Pein

There she was, standing by the ocean, her hands rubbing her swollen belly. Pein couldn't look away, he's been fascinated by her since he first saw her in the Hidden Rain Village. She got here she was just barley showing her pregnancy, but it wasn't just the fetus she was carrying that pulled Pein in, it was also her features. The way her (h/c/) hair would sway when she walked, her (s/c) would glow in the sunlight, not to mention her (e/c) were always so bright and held happiness. Pein had never seen her look sad, or angry.

She was just staring at the ocean, a small smile on her face. Pein was standing in the opening to the Akatsuki hideout watching her. She's been standing there for a while now, just watching the waves crash against the wall below her.

"Holy shit, Jashin has blessed me with two souls for the price of one!" Hidan was standing next to Pein a wicked smile plastered on his face as he licked his lips.

"Touch one hair on her head, and you'll die by my hand." Pein's voice held anger and malice. No one can touch her, she is too pure, her fetus is too innocent.

"What? Why the hell not?!" Hidan didn't want to disappoint his God, and having two innocent souls would greatly please Jashin.

"Because I said Hidan. You will not harm her or the child in her womb."

"This is bullshit! You owe me two new souls." Hidan poked Pein's chest.

"I owe you nothing. If anything you owe me for not killing you the moment you wanted to kill her." Hidan growled and stomped away, mumbling something about going to go pray.

Pein sighed and turned back to the woman at the ocean, but she was no longer there. Pein knitted his brows and scanned the area, he found her at a food stall buying some apples, her bright smile bringing a small one to his own face.

"Why don't you just go talk to her?" Konan asked standing behind him. She could always read him like a book.

"Because, there's something about her that I just can't quiet place. So for now I'll keep my distance until I found out what it is."

"You probably won't know until you talk to her."

Maybe Konan was right, maybe he should go talk to her. Hopefully then he will understand why he feels the need to watch over her and her unborn child.

"Tomorrow." Was all Pein said before watching her chew on her apple. He walked back into the building and went to his office, closing the door behind him. He sat behind his desk, leaning back in his chair and closed his eyes.

Why does this woman fill all of his thoughts? Why she is so important? He doesn't even know her name, all he knows is she's beautiful, pregnant, and that he has this urge to keep her safe, that's it.

A knock on the door brought him from his thoughts, "Come in." The door opened and in came Tobi, he tripped on his own feet as he walked in the door.

"Tobi.. get up." Pein sighed rubbing his forehead in annoyance.

"Tobi is sorry!" He stood up and closed the door turning back to Pein.

"Tobi has also seen the pretty lady Pein watches over. Tobi thinks Pein loves her."

Pein snapped his eyes to Tobi causing Tobi to cower in fear.

"I have no such feelings."

"Maybe the pretty lady is from Yahiko's memories?"

Pein didn't think about that. He placed his hand over his heart.

Is this the woman Yahiko always talked about protecting? The woman he kept hidden from him and Konan?

"Tobi, you are a genius."

Tobi covered his masked eye and turned away giggling.

"Thank you senpi!" Tobi then skipped out of the room. Pein stood from his chair and pulled on his Akatsuki cloak and walked out walking briskly down the hallway ignoring everyone's confused glances.

He made it outside and scanned the area again for her. He didn't find her right away but she was back at the ocean, sitting on a bench. He appeared behind her, careful not to startle her, and stood behind her.

She never even knew he was there behind her.

"What is your name?" He asked making her jump up and quickly stand up holding onto her pregnant belly.

"Excuse me?" She was confused as to why this man was asking for her name, but her eyes soon filled with tears as she covered her mouth with her hand.

"Yahiko? You're alive?" She took a step back and everything clicked into Pein's head.

The reason he was pulled to this woman, was because she was Yahiko's lover. The one he hid away to protect, the child growing in her womb was Yahiko's offspring. Her face held so much hope that he was really Yahiko, he couldn't crush her by telling her he was only using his body and nothing more.

"Yes." Was all he said, she cried out and ran to him flinging her arms around his neck and cried into his chest.

"I was so worried that you had died, you never came back for me like you promised."

Pein held her close to him, "I don't remember much from that day. I'm sorry I forgot to come back for you.."

"Y/N." She pulled back and gave him a bright smile, she didn't mind that he couldn't remember her name.

"Well I guess I can tell you now. This is our daughter." She put Pein's hands in her swollen womb.

"She should be here any day now."

It was at this moment that Pein vowed to always protect her and her daughter, he will pretend to be Yahiko for her sake and be the family Yahiko always talked about having. He would do right by him, and raise this child in a peaceful environment and love her forever.
