He was amazing. He was strong and caring, and very attentive to my needs on this long journey to my homeland. Asuma Sarutobi, a man's man.

"Hey Princess? You okay?" I shake my head turning to the gruff voice to my right. Asuma has a look of concern on his face as he holds out a small bowl of stew to me. Smiling I greatfully took it and bowed my head.

"Oh, yes! Thank you Asuma. I was just lost in my own thoughts again." I gently waved my hand to pass it off as if it was nothing. Which it would have been, if I wasn't falling for the man who was escorting me to my future husband.

An arranged marriage isn't something thY I ever wanted. Being the princess of a smaller land means that I would have to marry and create an even bigger kingdom and join two nations. Now, usually the bride is shipped off to live with her new husband, but my husband is to be coming to me. Me and my assistant Kiko were sent to the Hidden Leaf Village to collect a few things and have a spa day in their hot springs.

But along the way in the mix of everything I have fallen in love with Asuma. Though I'm not sure if he's married or has a woman in his life. He hasn't said and I'm too afraid to ask, afraid that he might have someone and my fantasies get crushed.

"Are you okay? Worried about your wedding?" Ino, a member of Asuma's team asked as she slurped up some of her food.

I swirled my spoon around inside my own bowl before sighing, "Not really no. It's an honor to be married off to join two nations but it's just-" I glanced at Asuma as he talked with Shikamaru, "It's nothing I suppose." I began to tuck into my meal ignoring the looks Ino and Choji were giving me.

Night had fallen, everyone was asleep sides from Asuma who was on watch, and me who couldn't seem to fall asleep. I tossed and laid on my side facing the fire, watching the flames dance around. Oranges and reds mixed with the yellows. I sat up from my sleeping bag looking around, being greeted by nothing but darkness.

"Can't sleep huh?" I gasped at the voice talking above me. Snapping my head up o saw Asuma sitting on a tree branch, cigarette in mouth, legs dangling off the side. "Oh Asuma, you scared me." He let out a small chuckle while blowing out smoke.

"Sorry about that. Didn't mean to." A small smile danced on my lips as I stood up, "Can-can I join you?" Glancing back up at him he also had a smile on his face. "Sure." I quickly climbed up the tree before he had a chance to move. Sitting next to him I let my legs also dangle off the side close to his. It was quiet for a while, it wasnt awkward or made me feel uncomfortable. It was actually kinda nice, to just sit there and have no one fussing over me, or bowing into the dirt because of my social status.

"Worried about meeting your new husband?" Asuma grunts out taking another hit off of his cigarette.

Fiddling with my fingers I looked up at the stars, "No, not really. But there's just-"

He looks at me, brows slightly pushed together, "Just what?"

I felt my cheeks heat up, my hands felt clammy. Taking a deep breath I turned to face Asuma,"I-I.... Nothing. It's something silly anyways." Looking back up at the stars in sighed. There was no way I could tell him how I felt. How was I supposed to say it anyways? Flat our say it, or sugar coat it-
