Drawing My Dream

(Age 16)

I sat crouched on a rock by the sea, Sai my comrade from the Foundation behind me. We've been sent here to observe the ship that is carrying Naruto, heading to the Land of Lightening.

We've been sitting here for the last hour, the crew for the ship taking forever to set sail, my skin was already burning from the direct sunlight I was soaked in. I turned to Sai who was painting away on one of his scrolls and I scoffed,

"You could help ya know?" I stated, he didn't look up from his scroll.

"Sai?"

Nothing.

"Sai?!" I said louder puffing my cheeks out when he finally looked up at me, like I wasn't just trying to get attention.

"Yes Y/N?" His eyes sparkled slightly at me being in the sun, droplets of water on my face and clothes from the sea water crashing against the rocks below me.

"You could be look out with me instead of painting." I craned my neck higher to try and peek at his painting but he hid it from me.

"What are you painting anyways?" I turned fully towards him standing up on my look out rock.

"Wouldn't you like know Y/N?" He teased with a small smirk. He knows that I hate being left out of things and that I hate him messing with me.

"Yes I would."

He tapped on his chin with the handle of his paintbrush as he thought about it, "Too bad."

I blinked a few times at him and groaned, crouching back down on my rock, but I snook a peek over my shoulder at Sai, he was in his element; when he's painting, he looks so beautiful. His concentration, the way the tip of his tongue poles out from between his lips, and his inability to notice things around him.

My cheeks tinted pink as I turned my head back to look at the ship.

Sai let out a soft chuckle, "You know Y/N, you look so cute when you blush."

I nearly fell off my perch, but quickly regained my footing. Sai doesn't talk like this, he doesn't compliment people, let alone girls. Maybe I imagined it, heading things that I wanted to hear from him.

"You're shocked. I can tell." I whipped my head to look at Sai, he was still painting away on his scroll.

"Well duh! Who wouldn't be?!" I bit the inside of my cheek and rested my forearms on my bent knees.

He chuckled again, "I thought the almighty Y/N wouldn't be so easily flustered by a simple compliment."

"It's not everyday that I get complimented, especially not by you Sai." I could feel my cheeks heating hotter, my gaze fell to the tiny pebbles on my rock as my thoughts began to run a mile a minute.

"That's a shame. You deserve all the compliments."

I stood.hp on my feet and took a threatening step forward, "Okay! Who are you and what have you done with Sai?! I swear to Kami if it's you Naruto I'll beat you so bad that the Nine Tails would nee a medic."

Sai actually let out a laugh and looked up at me, specifically in my (e/c) orbs, he brought his hand up and smiled at me,

"If you think I'm a fake, just bite my hand, you'll know for sure."

I eyed him cautiously, but walked and crouched next to him, I grabbed his hand and slowly brought it to my lips. I looked at him one last time bit his hand hard. Sai didn't flinch, he didn't cry out, he didn't poof away. With his hand still in my mouth he chuckled

"Believe me now Y/N?" He gave me that same sparkly eyed look. I took his hand out of my mouth, eyed slightly wide.

He was the real Sai, and he finds me cute.

"Would you like to see what I painted?" His demeanor changed, he was now nervous. I nodded my head he took his hand from mine and held up his painting.

I gasped and nearly had tears in my eyes,

He painted me, I was sitting under a tree, knees brought up to my chest, my arms wrapped around them, my chin resting on my knees and I was smiling, staring off into the trees. It was so beautiful and it looked exactly like me.

"Sai it's beautiful." I breathed in amazement. Sai put the painting in his lap and blushed.

"I was painting my dream, my dreams always consist of you."

My heart stopped entirely,

"Sai.."

He looked at me, his eyes going from my eyes, down my nose and settled on my lips.

"Kiss me Sai."

"W-what?" He blushed a deep red,

"I said kiss me."

He nodded his head, placing a hand on the back of my neck and pulled our lips together. His lips were chapped, and he seemed to stiffen up when our lips connected.

The sound of a loud bell pulled me his lips, I quickly looked out to sea and Naruto's ship was sailing away.

"Damn it.."

"Um.. Y/N.. before we go back to Donzo, can we do that some more?" Sai was looking down at his painting and I giggled.

"Sure Sai."

And I captured his lips in a gentle kiss.
