Scott's POV:
"I've been thinking about getting a flat in Brooklyn, maybe Queens, but I'm not really moving out of LA, ya know?" (y/n) explains, in her hands a iced (fav/beverage), to both me and Chris as I drive us back to our place, where Carly, Shana, and Mom will be waiting with a little 'welcome to Boston' surprise celebration for (y/n). We're already entering the neighborhood, so this should be a quick drive.
"Did a certain apartment catch your interest?" Chris asked as he discreetly tapped away on his phone, most likely on with Sebastian, sending me little worried looks from the rear view mirror when (y/n) wasn't looking, which was a fair number of times, so I got the idea of how bad the situation was.
"In a way..." she trails off as she tongues for the green plastic straw, bringing it up into her mouth as she sips her beverage, eyes glued to the window. "Oh, I got pictures on my phone if you guys wanna see it later, and the price range fits my budget, so it's really really got me thinking hard."
I hear the ruffle of Chris' clothes as he shifts to peek his head in between me and (y/n)'s seats, chin resting beside (y/n)'s seat. "Well, it's a good thing that you're getting an apartment for your own. Personally, I think you should get it. Besides, there will be times where you're gonna need a place to stay over at when you visit New York."
I let out a small chuckle as Chris gives me a quick wink before turning back to (y/n), who taps a finger on her lips in thought. "Well, uh, yeah, maybe." she mutters, followed by a little shrug of her shoulders. She whips her head back at me with a smile. "And you guys should definitely check it out with me incase it's actually trash."
This earns her two chuckles from both me and Chris as she swipes and taps on her phone, handing it over to Chris. She's probably showing him the apartment she saw back in New York. Chris takes it as they both swipe through her phone at the pictures, muttering little comments about the apartment.
"Holy shit, you should've been an interior designer instead." Chris murmured as (y/n) continued to explain the living room, something about throw pillows on the couch and not needing a fireplace, a beautifully waxed coffee table centering the room.
Chris is still wearing that NASA baseball cap, and (y/n) doesn't even seem to notice him not taking it off. I don't know how it's not noticeable. I smirk to myself, pride swelling in my chest for the oblivious couple, pulling up at the driveway. (y/n) was definitely in for a surprise.
"Welcome to our humble abode!" I declare loudly and dramatically, patting (y/n)'s thigh as all three of us get out. (y/n) giggles at me as I open the back to her luggage. Chris aims for her one luggage bag, putting it down with ease as (y/n) grabs the other extra backpack she had on with her. While they were busy, I had enough time to casually pull out my phone and start recording again. I pull the trunk door down and lock it, following just behind them.
(y/n) observes the house in awe, a soft smile filled with longing and warmth stretching across her face. It wasn't much, but it's been our house for as long as I can remember. To us, it's... home. Naturally. And I remember telling her that the first time we ever got drunk together. Got a little teary, talked a little bit about her own family and shared stories about moving away from Boston and to New York and meeting Sebastian there.
She tugs on her luggage bag as Chris opens the front door for her, me just behind the short woman, footing at her luggage so it pushed up the step.
"Ma! We're home!" Chris yells, taking off his cap and running a hand over his buzzcut, taking a peek at the kitchen and library for Mom and our sisters. I angle my phone perfectly to capture her expression — mouth agape and eyes wide. She turns back to me in shock. I laugh as she looks back at Chris, the look still etched on her face. Chris chuckles and turns around, a grin stretched on his face, arms wide open.
