Sarah

Suddenly Callie coughs.

Water comes flying out of her mouth and then the paramedics quickly put her in to the recovery position. Letting out a sigh of relief I spoke out loud. "Oh, thank God!!"

"No, thank Amanda."

I looked at Jamie as if he had grown horns on his head and lost the plot. "Are you high?"

"No. I will explain more later. Come on though, you need to get a bag together for her hospital stay. You go with her in the ambulance and I will follow you all in my car."

I never packed a bag so quickly in all my life and I watched in awe of the paramedic that was attending to Callie. So caring and professional.

When we arrived, Callie was taken through, but I was held back and asked to fill out some forms and give my account on what happened.

The more information the hospital had, the more they could help Callie.

Hours had passed by and we were still in the dark with what is going on with Callie. "Shouldn't we call her parents?"

I freaked. I know Jamie means well, but he doesn't know the ins and outs of Callie's relationship with her parents. "No!"

"Why not? Their daughter almost died tonight Sarah!"

I sighed and sat back down beside Jamie. "It is complicated, but they disowned her a while back. Instead of helping her through her meltdown, they washed their hands of her."

"That's rotten. Maybe we should call the lassie that she was seeing if we can't contact her parents?"

Looking over at the receptionist, hoping to be called, I shook my head. "I don't know. It ended badly. Or at least Callie's version it did. I do think there is more to the story that I don't know."

Jamie put his arm around my shoulder and gave me a squeeze. "I hate to be obvious, but you have her phone, maybe have a look through her contacts?"

I nodded and got Callie's phone out of my pocket. Luckily enough her phone wasn't password protected, I really should speak to her about that and kick her ass for many other things.

Scrolling through her contacts, I couldn't find Ashley. She really had wiped her off her phone. Then a name caught my eye, Fiona.
Looking at the time, it was almost two in the morning and I'm not sure if I should call her. Screw it. If she answers, she answers.

"Callie, do you know what time it is?"

Okay, so she answered. "It's not Callie, it's Sarah."

Fiona cleared her throat; I can imagine that she is surprised. "Oh, hey Sarah, is everything okay?"

"No, not in the slightest." I filled in Fiona with what happened earlier, and I could hear her breaking down on the phone, she is clearly distraught. "I need you to tell Ashley."

"Well if you are reaching out to me, I am assuming that she has deleted her number from her phone?" Fiona was starting to sound a little clearer after finding out what happened tonight.

"Aye, that she did."

"I have no idea where she works but I do know that she lives three streets away, but again, I don't know which direction that is in."

This was frustrating. I know Callie is hurt over what went on, but I do think that Ashley should know. "Damn it. Can I leave tracking Ashley down to you? I need to make sure that Callie pulls through completely."
