Six o'clock
I'm sitting on the swing away in my own world, unaware that Sarah has just arrived at the back of me and puts her hands on my shoulders, making me jump. "Whoa easy Cal, it's just me."
"Shit Sarah, you almost gave me a heart attack. I was in my own world there."
"Any room for me?"
"Always room for my bestie. So, what's up?"
"Nothing like going straight for the jugular Callie." I knew I didn't hang around in asking her, I'm like that with Sarah, always have been.
"I'm sorry. I have been worrying slightly since you text me. It's a rare moment when you text our code."
"Aw sorry babe. I should have said it wasn't anything serious." But her face was telling me a slightly different story.
"But serious enough to text me our code?"
"Yeah, point taken." Sarah sat in the swing next to me and when I looked at her, she didn't seem herself.
"So, you are acting weird and look...well not like your usual self, so spill it."
"Okay, okay but I will start by saying I am never drinking with you ever again." I let out a small chuckle.
"You have said that every time you have been hungover from one of our nights out, so that's nothing unusual."
"You're lethal but yet, never seem hungover, why is that?"
"I drink plenty of water in between, pace myself and pee a lot. You lot are like at the races and chug it back that quick, it's almost a race to see who becomes drunk first." We looked at each other and laughed.
"Fiona..."
"We are so leading her astray, aren't we?"
"A little bit. But if she doesn't want to do anything, she is pretty quick in telling us."
"That's true. Ah...is this about my passing comment last night? I was only taking the mickey." I remembered my flaps comment in the taxi and I the comment I came out with.
"What comment?"
"Okay, maybe not."
"You have me intrigued." Then I could see Sarah recalling the taxi ride home and the conversation that we had. "Oh...my...God...Callie!!"
"Well so your head got off the pillow then?"
"Yeah it did Callie."
"Oh...you and Fiona do it again?" I was starting to push for answers as to why Sarah wanted to meet up.
"What....no!" I narrowed my eyes at her and I can tell she is telling the truth.
"Okay, I believe you."
"But..."
"Oh, there's a but is there...?" Now I am definitely intrigued. "Okay, stop being cryptic babe, what gives?"
"I... I think I like Fi."
"Well, d'uh, you live with her." I know what she meant. I need her to come out and say it, it's not that I want to throw it in her face that I knew before her, but I did.
"No Callie, I mean, like...really like Fi, as in attracted to her."
"Well, yeah, that's been obvious babe. Is this you just realising that you like her? "
"Yeah. Wait. You already knew?" Okay, so I can't hold my water, especially when it comes to Sarah.
"Small subtle things, but yes, I had a suspicion that you liked her. When did you realise you liked her and what has happened to make you realise what I already knew?"
