Callie
Tuesday
It has been a relatively quiet morning and I have helped Sarah pack up the rest of the house. Sarah looked into storage companies that were near the area we would be living in and they are going to turn up first thing tomorrow morning. Which means we have to survive on the small amount of furniture that we will be able to use until we get the hell out of here.
Sarah has decided for the time being that she is going to rent out her house for until she is ready to sell. She also threw it out there that if things didn't work out in Glasgow, she has the option in six months' time to end the tenancy agreement and can move back here. "I take it we are going to survive on takeaway grub until we move?" I'm hungry, when am I not?
"Well, unless you want a cup of soup or a pot noodle...?"
I think my face painted a picture. We didn't really think this one through, did we? "Ugh. No. we can always do pub grub if needed."
"Why not? Let's live the high life until we get out of here."
I sometimes wonder what is going on in Sarah's head when she comes out with phrases like that, I really do. "I doubt pub grub is the high life, but whatever floats your boat pal!"
Wednesday
I'm bored. We have been up since the crack of dawn and since we are all packed up and sitting here waiting on the storage/removal company arriving, I decided on playing a game. "I spy..."
"Really, Callie?"
"Indulge me." I know Sarah will, she always does.
"Okay..."
"I spy, with my little eye, something beginning with...V!!" I'm inwardly pissing myself with laughter and I know she is going to flip at me once the answer comes out.
"Uhm..." I watched Sarah looking around the room. Dork. The VAN is here...
"Ugh. Callie this is frustrating as hell." Then the door knocked much to Sarah's relief. "Oh, for fucks sake Callie, see you!!"
"What have I done now?"
"Van!!" I burst out laughing. "You are a fucker, Callie." The poor bloke at the door looked bewildered with the two of us.
"But you love me anyway." Laughing hard at Sarah and she shook her head.
"Just as well..." Sarah apologised to the removal men and they worked light lightning. They had good banter once they were filled in why Sarah was swearing when they first arrived. Before we knew it, the living room looked rather empty. "Wow. This place looks like a shell..."
"It doesn't half. It's strange seeing it like this. It's always looked so homely."
"Pub?" I nodded eagerly. "Let's go then."
***
"I've changed my mind, since it's only lunch time, we can go to the pub later for dinner."
Sarah let out an exasperated sigh. "Well, what do you want to do today?"
"I don't know. Maybe we can have a quick wander around the town one last time?" It's not like I have to say goodbye to anything specific, it's just that after tomorrow, this place, will become a memory.
"Okay, but please try and stay out of trouble."
"Who me!? You make it sound like I want trouble on my doorstep Sarah. It's not my fault that it seems to pop up when I least expect it." Sarah looked at me dubiously and we linked arms and wandered around the town. We mostly window shopped and chatted about our memories around the town.
