"Run Wei Ying! A-Xian, run! Go! Go, now!"

Wei Ying tried with all of his might to run away from the nightmare before his eyes but his feet were stuck solid to the ground. He forced his limbs to move but he was trapped in his own body, his mind screaming at himself to do something.

"Go! Run A-Xian!"

He exerted all of his energy into moving but the gravity was too strong and he crumpled forwards onto his knees, his hands sinking into the rubble around him.

"No! Please, don't hurt him!"

The woman screamed and screamed for him to run away, to save himself, but he couldn't leave her to this dreadful fate.

"Stop! Please don't!" he screamed until his voice went hoarse.

"Shoot me! Kill me! Not him, please! Please don-"

"Mama!"

His eyes wavered and blurred as he watched the woman crumple to the ground and die; her limbs sprawled grotesquely upon the crumbling floor, her hand reached out towards him. Her eyes looked like glass, lifeless and cold, and he could see his young face staring back at himself covered in blood and dirt.

"Mama! No!"

Wei Ying shot up on his bed with a gasp. He clutched at his chest to calm his breathing and his eyes shot all around the room to find the bleeding woman who had saved him. But he didn't see her anywhere, only wardrobes and desks and a small window. He looked out at the sky and saw it was a dull orange meaning the sun was just beginning to rise.

Knowing he wasn't going to get anymore sleep, Wei Ying swung his legs off his bed and got up with a yawn, before heading off to shower. After he let the warm water wash away his thoughts for one blissful moment, he got out and ready for the day. The familiar uniform bringing a small sense of comfort.

His stomach wasn't good, so he settled on a cup of tea before sitting at the window and watching the sun rise. He must have sat there for a few hours as the next thing he knew Jiang Cheng was shaking his shoulder and telling him it was time to go, a frown present at his friend's unusual silence.

The pair made their way to the room they had been active in for the past week and Jiang Cheng tried to make conversation, but only got nods and tense silences from the other. He gave a sigh as he stepped in front of Wei Ying to open the door, before he walked right into it.

"Thanks." Wei Ying muttered before walking in and sitting down on his chair. He and Jiang Cheng were the last ones to arrive- the other boys all seated and waiting- so they sat down quickly as Wangji took the register.

"Guangyao."

"Yes sir."

"Cheng."

"Here sir.

"Wuxian."

"..."

"Wei Wuxian."

"..."

"Wei Ying!"

At the third call, Wei Ying's head shot up and he looked around with wide eyes, scanning the whole room before resting on Wangji. He came back to the present and realised he had ignored his call.

"Yes sir." he whispered before dropping his head back into his hands.

"Right. Today will be a little different. We've gone through many situations and the best ways to deal with them. Now, things are going to get more personal. I'll be spending time with you individually to know your deepest fears and concerns. Then we can work on overcoming them for the tests. Understood?"
