Chapter 16: Is it all over?

"I am being honest, Sir, this is the presentation that I made, I didn't copy anyones" Bright's couldn't even believe that Mil had the audacity to do this.

How can I prove to them that this is my work, maybe if they see the previous versions on my computer they might believe me, Bright was finding ways to help himself.

"I have the previous versions on my computer, would you like to see those, that might prove my innocence" Bright tried his luck.

Bright could see from the corner of his eyes, that Mil was smiling like crazy......making Bright uncomfortable

"We will see to that after this meeting, you will not be allowed to continue to attend this meeting" the executive kicked Bright out... Win was helpless in this situation

Before leave Bright glanced at Win but his faced showed nothing but disappointment

Was Bright expecting help from him, why did it hurt Bright so much....

Did Mil actually do this.....he was such a good sport to Bright, why did he have to jeopardize Brights' work ......pretty much, had Mil asked Bright, he wouldn't mind giving the project to him, no need for such a kiddish prank. But now that things have escalated to the executive level, there would be serious consequences.

After the meeting was over, the executive, along with Win and Bright headed to Bright's desk. Bright switched on the computer and accessed his document folder. As the folder opened Bright was shocked, there was no file within it.........where had all the previous version gone to. He refreshed and refreshed only ending it in nothing. He closed the folder and opened it again, still nothing.....was the computer playing games with him........this was not happening

Bright turned and saw that the executive was shaking his head furiously and whispered something into Win's ear and both of them turned and headed to Mil's desk.

"Do you have the previous versions on your computer" he asked Mil

"Yes Sir, I do" Mil said and proceeded to open the documents and presented to them

"Do you still want to continue to lie to me " The executive asked Bright

"I..I..."

"Don't tell me that you didn't lie to me, did a magician do this " he went on and on and at this point Win was getting frustrated

"Let's end this here. I'll see to it, personally" Win intervened and then they left the room

"Mil, did you really do this?" Bright asked Mil directly

Mil only replied with a shoulder shrug.

Bright was in not condition to blame, he only had himself to blame. He violated the most important policy of the company "Never give your password anyone", he had provided Mil with his.

For now the first step was to change his password, rest all comes later.....

He prayed from the bottom of his heart that someone would help him, the tiniest hope in Win had vanished when he was kicked out of the room earlier.

"Mr. Bright, President is calling you in his office" an attendee announced

Bright headed to the room. How is he going to even face Win at this point..... Win would never believe a word he had to say, or can he still hope.......

"Come in" Win said as Bright knocked the door

"Thank you" Bright said ever so slightly

"Let's hear your side of the story, I have already talked to Mil" Win said pointing Bright to sit at the sofa in front of him "don't leave any detail out"

Bright told him everything, ranging from the constant back and forth interaction for the proposals and the hardcopies and the final proposal that he submitted the night before the presentation

As he gave his side of the story, little did he know Win was recording the whole conversation.

"Is that all" Win asked

"That's pretty much it" Bright concluded

"You can head back to your office, you'll be notified on what will happen next"

With heavy steps Bright left the room and walked to his desk. Worse come to worse, he will be kicked out, copying was a major no no in the company. This could play in his favor or against, he will escape Win but his CV will have a mark that he was kicked out from MSJC, ......which company would take him after this!!!

Hours later announcements were sent from the president to the secretary department and they read as follow

"Effective from tomorrow, Bright and Mil, assigned to the secretary department will be having 3 days of paid leave, till the issue resolves"

On their personal emails, there were strict instruction that they stay away from the office and the personals for the next 3 days whilst the committee decided what will happen next.

Bright knew that the worst was coming, as much as he wanted to fight his fate, he couldn't .....things were just not working his way, or a better way to put it, as long as Win is involved nothing will go Bright's way.

Bright knew that Gulf would have heard of the news and by now would be stressing over it, so he called Gulf and met after working hours.

After Bright reiterated his story to Gulf, Gulf just wanted to go and kill Mil........how selfish.

Did all the people in the company having the motto of "all for ones-self"

Bright and Gulf agreed not to tell Bright's family about this. Let's wait and see how the future will take its course
