"No! Heck no!" Ash screamed as she smacked Iris' raised hand that was reached out to me.
"Ash?!" I was surprised, she had been quiet this whole time and now she was speaking out?
"No! Shut it Clove! This is a crap deal and you know it!" Ash was now physically standing in front of me, preventing me from seeing Iris let alone shake her hand.
"Vile, girl." Iris spat as she whipped her hand in a diagonal motion. In slow motion, it was as if a thin silver thread danced through the air and wrapped around Ash's leg. She screamed out in pain as Iris pulled her hand back. The thread tightened around Ash's ankle and sizzled as it burned her skin. It was pure silver...
"Stop it! Let her go!" Iris' lip tugged up in disgust at the mention of my request.
"She should learn her place and not interfere." I looked down at Ash as her fingers hesitated to reach for the string wrapped around her ankle. Her mind was yelling at her to remove the silver, but she wasn't able to touch it without burning herself even more.
"She's fine release her now! Do it now or else we have no deal at all!" Her face calmed immediately as Iris slowly pulled the thread back into her sleeve, releasing Ash from her grasp. Quickly Ash stood up and limped back next to me. Her leg was dripping blood from her burn wounds.
"So, you would rather have no wolf at all than for me to threaten your friend here?"
"To answer your question yes, however, that's not my only reason for threatening you. You seem to have been expecting me for a while, that I would come to you before my birthday. Why couldn't you have waited a few more months? You would have gotten the bones back and never would have had to see my family again? So, why is it so important for you to make this deal with me?!" I had hit a nerve with Iris, her eyes narrowed and her head lowered.
"It seems you might be smarter than your parents were...but, the importance of my choices are not your concern."
"They are if you want me to make a deal with you," I stated firmly. I could tell that Iris was getting angry. Her shoulders were tense and her chest rose and fell with rage. Then, all of a sudden, her eyes twitched to the front door of her cabin and then back to us.
"You might care about my reasons, but it looks as if you don't have the time to ask questions." I looked at Ash to see if she knew what she was talking about. With worry in Ash's eyes told me she didn't know either.
"What are you talking about?"
"It seems as if I have more intruders in my forest..." She smirked, full well knowing who they were.
"Intruders?"
"After the incident with your parents sneaking behind my back, I placed a barrier spell around the forest. I know who comes in and where they are..."
"Who's entered the forest?" I seethed. I didn't like her being so vague.
"Your mates."
My eyes quickly found their way to Ash's as we look at each other with worry. I knew we were both thinking the same thing. How had they found us? And so fast! It had taken a whole day or so to drive from Bright Moon to the Obsidian Night pack and now Alaric and Sander were both here in these woods?! It didn't make any sense!
"They're here! How!?"
"Hahahahah, make the deal with me now or you know you won't get another chance to get your wolf back." I grinned my teeth together as my fists clenched until they were white. Damn it! She knew I was crunched for time and was using it to her advantage! All of this sudden pressure to decide to make a deal or not with her was leaving my bain in serious pain! I couldn't think about the facts or the details of this deal! Ash was right, Iris was definitely hiding something, but there wasn't enough time for me to try and figure it out or get it out of her without Sander and Alaric coming to get us first and drag us away!
