Alaric's POV

After the tests were concluded I made my way back to my office. This time I did end up passing Ashlyn, she did a small bow and smiled at me. I had only met her once or twice when Sander first told me he had found her. She seemed like a very nice girl and always seemed to be smiling. The smile she just gave me though... it felt kind of forced. A person like Ashlyn probably doesn't have to force a smile that often. Was something wrong I wonder? She most likely just came from talking with Clover.

"Ashlyn?" I asked her I stop in my tracks and look down at her.

"Yes Alpha Alaric?" Her striking blue eyes gazed up at me and it seemed like she was trying to calm her heart.

"Is there a problem? You seem upset, is Clover alright?" I was gone for more than an hour or so, Goddess who knows what they could have talked about or what could have happened when I'm not there. I mentally groaned at the thought of what these girls could get up to with no one watching them. Sander and I would most definitely have our hands full with our mates being best friends.

"It's not a problem Alpha, just a small concern that's been on my mind." She smiled again and bowed then took her to leave. Whatever was on her mind it seemed like something that Sander should handle. I began walking again and dismissed the warriors at the end of the hall. When I got to my office door I jiggled the handle, only to find it was locked. This was interesting.

"S-sorry! Coming!" Clover yelled from inside the room. In no time at all the door was unlocked and thrown open. I nearly lost my breath when I saw her, she had changed from my dark T-shirt and basketball shorts to a light blue dress. The curtains in the office were all the way open and the rising sun seemed to find every angel of Clover's face and shine a spotlight on it. Her blonde hair was highlighted almost on fire.

How the hell did I get this lucky to have a mate so sweet, kind, and beautiful I wondered?

"A-Alaric is something wrong?" She looked up at me with her hazel eyes glowing in the sunlight as well, looking like jewels dawning her face.

"My apologies Clover, I'm just not used to my own office door being locked." She blushed a deep red and stepped aside to allow me entrance into my office.

"S-sorry, I was just changing." She said, stumbling on some words. I liked how I had that effect on her making her nervous enough that the words could form in her mind but became jumbled up when she spoke.

"I see that." I gave her another look over drinking in all of her curves that were now exposed by the dress that was once covered by my T-shirt. Part of me still wished she was wearing my clothes. Although I loved her in this dress I also didn't want any wandering eyes to look at her. Especially in my pack, where most males are unmated for awhile I definitely didn't want her walking around the pack in this alone.

"Alaric?" My eyebrows rose in surprise at her voice. She usually didn't ask that many questions of me.

"Yes, Clover." I smiled at how much courage it was taking her to ask me something. I reached out my hands and wrapped them around her waist causing her to jump a bit and nervously brush her hair behind her ears.

"I want to see the pack, could you show me around?" Even though she didn't ask that many questions I was always surprised by whatever she ended up asking. I knew that Clover was fully healed by now, considering we spent the whole night together, although not exactly the way I wanted to. Physically she would be able to take a tour of the pack, but I didn't know if I could risk it. With all the threats I had gotten recently and the mysterious notes.... Just thinking about them made me want to kill whoever was responsible for sending such things.
