20 - Gunshots

I've just opened the letter from city hall and I've never been so shocked. She's signed on the dotted line, she wants a divorce. Oh my god she actually wants a divorce, she's signed on the dotted line, she's signed on the fucking dotted line! I flick back through the pages and see scribbled on the back. "Colby you may not believe me but I do love you and this is your baby. I can't contact you and I'm so scared please find me. I don't know where I am but I'm in danger. Please find me before they kill me..." I blink back the tears and run out towards my car, I know I've got to get this to the police and quickly. I called Ashley as I was getting back into the car, this is the biggest lead we've had. I'm sure there is a way we can track where this came from before it reached city hall, maybe we can finally find out where my wife is.

Becky
Randy's been getting better, he's only hit me once or twice. He's even considering to let me start going to the doctors, I'm making progress with him but I've just received a letter which could change everything. It's the letter about my name being changed, I'm nervous to open it because my name could well and truly be changed. I might be Abigail Quin soon to be Orton, I'm shaking so much I don't want a different name, I want to Rebecca Lopez till the day I die.

"Randy! It's here!"

I heard the footsteps getting louder and louder, then the door burst open. He looks so excited and I'm just so scared. I peel back the envelope and take out the set of papers, there was a massive denied stamp across the papers. I felt the tears fall, I was so happy and he was so sad. I watched him slam down the papers and look at me with the dark look I hate so much.

"Was this you?!?"

"What?!?"

"WAS THIS YOU! DID YOU SAY SOMETHING TO THEM!"

I felt myself shivering under him, my happiness has just been shattered in record time. I shook my head and wiped away my tears.

"You were meant to be Mrs Abigail Orton!"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"

"WHAT DID YOU DO!"

"Nothing! Nothing!"

He pulled me from the chair and chucked me onto the floor, I screamed out in pain. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and he's treating me like this.

"Please Randy! STOP PLEASE!"

I was begging him to stop but he just won't listen, the red mist has clearly come down. He just couldn't stop, he picked me up and threw me onto the bed, I was screaming and kicking but he wouldn't let go. I heard his belt pop and I tried to move away, he grabbed my arm and I screamed so loudly my lungs were burning.

Colby
They've got it, they've got the address. Finally I'll be getting Becky back, me and Ashley are in the back of a police car and Joe's in the car behind. I can see the fear in Ashley's eyes and I don't blame her I'm terrified too. I'm scared of how she'll look, if she'll be covered in cuts of bruises or if she'll be scared out of her mind or both. I'm holding Ashley's hand because we're close, we're so so close.

Randy
I heard the sirens and I knew what was coming. I pulled off of Becky and grabbed my clothes. I knew I had to get away now or I'll be killed on site. My sister was standing outside of my door gun in hand.

"Hear me out before you say no. We'll take Becky out gun against her, we'll have our demands and they'll have let to let us go or we'll shoot her."

I turned back into the bedroom and started chucking me and Becky's clothes into a duffel bag, I'd nearly packed everything when I heard Becky shout.

"IN HERE!"

I placed my hand over her mouth and I heard her screaming under my hand. I pulled her up to her feet and shoved her towards my sister, she placed the gun to her side and began to walk towards the sirens. I followed closely behind, I could hear my sister turn the safety off so if she pulled the trigger she would kill Becky.

"Now you listen here you bitch! You do exactly what I say or I won't hesitate to kill both of you."

She flicked the gun between Becky's head and her stomach, I don't want her to kill Becky but if it means I don't go down so be it.

Becky
I knew I have to do everything she says, what if my plan falls apart at the very last second. She's got a gun to my stomach and I'm petrified, we're walking towards the sirens, towards the police. I think they're gonna use me as a bargaining chip to earn them there freedom, all I want is to be home I'm 22 weeks pregnant for fucks sake. Randy booted the door open and I hear the sound of gasps.

Colby
"BECKY!"

I saw her being pulled out of the door with Lily Orton, I want to run to her, protect her but I see the gun pressed to her side. I can hear Ashley's sobs from behind me. All the armed officers have there guns trained on Lily. The door opens once more and I hear Ashley hit the floor behind me, I thought he was dead, I saw the blood smeared all over the kitchen floor and I saw the police tape all over Becky's house. I can see her struggling against Lily, then I hear the megaphone go off.

"Look Lily we don't want to hurt you, all we want is to get Rebecca safe. Don't you want that too?"

"NO! NOW YOU GET US WHAT WE WANT AND WE'LL CONSIDER LETTING HER GO!"

I want to run to her, scream for her but she looked me dead in the eye and shook her head.

"Now Lily what exactly do you want?"

"A CAR AND MY BROTHERS NAME CLEARED!"

Is she sick in the head, he's an abuser. They aren't just gonna let him walk free, he would be in jail if Ashley hadn't have killed him, or what ever she did to him because he clearly ain't dead.

"Release Rebecca and we can talk and sort out a plan, community service a job in a car lot. We can consider your offer if you just let her go!"

"CONSIDER OUR OFFER? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING YOU THINK I WON'T SHOOT HER DON'T YOU!"

"We know you won't!"

"SO YOU WANT TO TEST ME NOW! SAFETY IS ALREADY OFF ALL I'VE GOT TO DO IS PULL THE TRIGGER!"

I could feel my breath becoming unsteady, I know I have to get her because this negotiator is gonna get her killed. I slipped under the tape and pushed past an officer.

Becky
I saw him push through the officers and I felt the cold metal move from my side, I turned my head and saw her pointing the gun at Colby. I watched as she pulled the trigger and all of a sudden my life was in slow motion. I saw the bullet moving slowly through the air and watched as it hit Colby. He fell towards the ground, I saw everything coming to an end all at once.

"COLBY!"

I watched him hit the ground, I felt Lily put her hands on my shoulders and push me to the ground.

Ashley
I just watched Colby get shot, I want to run to him but I can't. I turn my attention back to Becky and see she's on the floor gun pointed at her.

"NO!"

I heard the gunshot followed by a loud scream from Becky...

"REBECCA, NO!"

A/N: Hello! Sorry for my lack of updates throughout the week, I'm very busy at the moment. I had time to write today because I'm not very well so I was off!
