Amelia
Charlie insists I use the wheelchair so that I don't have to walk out.
"Dad, really, I'm fine." I sigh as he pushes me out to the waiting room.
"Amelia! You nearly gave these old men a heart attack." I turn to see Jacob laughing as Billy shakes his head. Charlie wheels me over towards them.
"Well I sure hope you recorded the game." I sigh dramatically, making Jake laugh some more as Billy rolls his eyes with a small smile.
"Of course we recorded it." Billy assures me, as if it were obvious. He looks over my shoulder uncomfortably, but his eyes quickly shift back to my face while Charlie briefly explains what Carlisle told him.
I turn to see what he was looking at and find Alice, Emmett, and Jasper standing off in the corner patiently, watching us while they wait.
"Son, why don't we go get the car. Charlie." Billy signals to my father to go with them.
Reluctantly he does so, wheeling me over towards the other three, right beside Alice.
"She's alive." Emmett grins, leaning against the wall.
"I told you." Alice rolls her eyes. "How do you feel?"
"I'm fine. I probably look worse than I feel." I smile a bit, hoping they believe it. I was in quite a bit of pain to be completely honest, but I've never been a fan of attention.
Our little group falls silent for a moment, even Emmett seemed to be a bit lost in thought.
"I want to thank you guys. I don't know what would have happened if it weren't for the three of you." I try to stand up, but Alice places a hand on my shoulder to keep me down. I roll my eyes, gesturing for her to lean down.
"Thank you." I hug her as tightly as I could manage without pain.
"Thank you for not dying." she sighs.
Emmett and I agree on a fist pump because he really is strong and kept making fun of my fragility. Jasper stood a few feet behind his siblings, arms crossed as he watches us carefully. Alice and Emmett mention getting their car as well before leaving us alone.
"Hey." I breath out, he walks over, his eyes trained on the ground.
"You're OK." he takes a long breath.
"You're still wet." I move to take off his jacket, I'd nearly forgotten I had it on.
"Don't," he says quietly, his hands stopping mine before I could undo a single button "it's still raining." I want to say no, but I know there's no point.
"What's so funny?" he smiles a little.
"Nothing, nothing." I shake my head.
He kneels down in front of me, pulling the wheelchair closer.
"Amelia, what is it?" he gently brushes my hair out of my face, his icy fingers ghosting over my warm skin.
"I just realized how stubborn you can be is all." I let out a quiet laugh. Hi head tilts ever so slightly at my words, his hair bounces around his face as he moves.
"I am not stubborn." he disagrees with a shake of his head.
"Sure Jasper, You keep telling yourself that." I laugh, he rolls his eyes playfully. Another quiet moment passes before I turn serious.
"Thank you," I say quietly "for saving me."
"I'll always be there to save you darlin. Though, I must ask that you be less reckless." he raises his eyebrows expectantly.
"I am not reckless, it was an accident." I shake my head. Sure, I may be a tad clumsy now and then, and I might enjoy adrenaline rushes, but I'm not reckless.
"Sure Amelia, you keep telling yourself that." He smirks as he uses my own words against me.
Just then Jasper motions towards the door. Jacob had just pulled the truck up to the curb.
"My chariot awaits." I laugh as I see Jacob jump out of the car, jogging towards the door.
"Allow me." Jasper grabs the handles of my chair and steers me over to the door.
"I'll see you at school?" I look up at him as he pushes me out the door.
He nods, glancing over at Jacob who stood a few feet away.
"Just...try not to die before then." his brows pull together as his tone gets low and serious.
I didn't have a chance to say anything before he had practically handed me over to Jacob who decides to have some fun by taking a running start.
"Jake slow down! The wheels are wobbling!" I squeal, grabbing onto the arm of the chair with my good hand.
"Relax!" he laughs, slowing as we get closer. "I don't want to be soaked!" he opens the door, helping me in, ignoring every time I say I can do it.
"Why is your friend just standing in the rain? Kinda weird." Jake notes with a shake of his head., shutting the door before running back around to the drivers seat. He and Billy day up front while Charlie and I were in the back.
"He's just waiting for Alice." I explain, my thoughts turning back to the poor truck. "I really hope the truck is going to be alright." I sigh, realizing that it might not work now, or that it may be too damaged to fix.
"Hey, don't worry about it. I'm sure I can fix it if anything is wrong." he reassures me.
"Have you called your sister?" Charlie asks after a few minutes of quiet.
"No." I shake my head.
"Oh, I did." Jake says, raising his hand a little, "Yeah she said that she had just found out from the Cullen's. I guess she was with them or something."
"Right, I forgot she's with Edwin." Charlie grumbles.
"It's Edward, Dad." I laugh slightly. Of course he knows Edwards name, he's just being over protective as always.
"I'm sure Alice filled them in." I shrug, no doubt in my mind that she would tell them everything if she hadn't already.
