Amelia

I must have fallen asleep in Jaspers arms because the next time I woke up-or at least thought I had-it was to hushed whispers.

"Rosalie dear, he's safe. We can go home now if you'd like." Esme's soft voice speaks in a gentle tone.

"That's ok. I'd like to stay. Just to be sure. Just until Emmett is back." Rosalie shakes her head slightly, her eyes trained on something else. I look to see what she's looking at and I find my house.

"You're brothers care very much for those girls." Esme notes after a few moments. Rosalies eyes narrow ever so slightly as she stiffens at what's to come.

"And?" she all but snaps, her tone icy.

"And it would mean a great deal to all of us-"

"I can't Esme." Rosalies speaks through gritted teeth.

"Rosalie," Esme sighs, looking at her daughter with nothing but a heart full of love for her "I understand why you're hesitant. But these girls, they make Edward and Jasper not just happy...whole. Just like you and Emmett. And Emmett, these girls are like sisters to him. It hurts him more than anything else to see how much you hate them." Esme glances down at the house. Charlie was leaving for work, I could see the worry and sleepless nights on his face.

"I know that. I don't hate them. I hate that they don't even know what they'll be giving up. Alice has seen it. We know exactly how this plays out. They're so young they don't even think about what they will lose." Rosalie stands upright in the branch she'd been sitting on.

"I'm sorry Esme. I tried already for Edward. I just can't bear it." Rosalie drops her head a bit.

"In time maybe." Esme nods understandingly before Rosalie is gone, following Charlie from a distance while Esme watches her go with a sympathetic smile.

"It's fascinating."

"Do you think she knows when it's happening?"

"She did just then."

A small yawn escapes my lips as my eyes flutter open. The cold arms around me tell me that I did in fact fall asleep in Jaspers arms, for how long though I couldn't tell.

"Morning darlin." Jasper whispers in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.

"Hi Jazz." I smile up at him sleepily.

"Hello Edward, Carlisle." I nod at the two as I spit them at the side of my bed.

"Hello Amelia, how are you feeling? Any pain?" Carlisle smiles at me, quickly checking my vitals.

"A bit sore, props to the meds." I answer honestly because clearly the pain meds were working well.

"How's Bella?" I ask after the realization that Edward wasn't with her actually hit me.

"She's ok. Your mother is in with her now talking with her. I'm sure she'll be in soon." Carlisle smiles warmly before making his way out.

I breath in the smell of Jasper, possibly the most incredibly comforting smell known to man, and let a smile pull at my lips as I look up at him once more.

"What?" he smiles back.

"Just happy you're here." I shrug my shoulders, wincing at the discomfort it causes. He laughs lightly, his hand brushes a piece of hair back from my face.

"You two are insane." Edward shakes his head.

"What do you mean?" I turn my attention to him.

"You and Bella. You almost die because of us and yet neither of you seem to care in the least bit. It's like you have no sense of self preservation whatsoever." he leans back in the chair with a long sigh.
