Third Person POV

"BEEP...BEEP..."

Y/N groaned in annoyance as the sound of her alarm clock pierced through the Monday morning haze. Slamming it with more force than necessary, she hoped to drown out the start of another dreaded week. She retreated under the covers, yearning for a few more moments of sleep.

Her mother's voice rang out, issuing a stern warning about the consequence of tardiness: meatloaf for dinner. The threat instantly jolted Y/N out of her drowsiness, the prospect of enduring her mother's infamous dish proving to be a powerful motivator.

"I'm awake, Mom! I swear!" Y/N called out, springing into action. Hastily, she made her way to the bathroom, eager to freshen up and shake off the remnants of sleep.

Stepping into the shower, the warm water acted as an invigorating force, rousing Y/N from her grogginess. The sensation of the water washing away her fatigue brought about a newfound alertness, preparing her for the challenges that awaited her that day.

Emerging from the shower, Y/N felt a surge of determination. Swiftly getting dressed, she shifted her focus from the Monday blues to the potential possibilities the day had in store. With towel-dried hair and a newfound optimism, Y/N left the bathroom, ready to tackle the challenges that lay ahead.

Y/n POV

"I think I'll dress cute, maybe she'll notice me," I thought to myself, hoping for a chance to catch her attention.

Suddenly, I flinched as I heard a voice behind me. I turned around to find my brother, who had startled me with his presence.

"What? do I look beauti-" I began to say, but he interrupted me with a comment that cut deep. "Gosh, you look ugly!" Enraged, I smacked his head with force, expressing my frustration at his hurtful words.

"Oww! What was that for?" he protested, clearly surprised by my reaction. "You deserve that! I know I'm not conventionally beautiful, but you could at least support me as your sister," I snapped, rolling my eyes at him before making my way downstairs to have breakfast.

"Good morning, Mom," I greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, as I always did. I truly cherished my mom and her presence in my life.

"Morning, sweetie. What's with the ruckus upstairs?" my mom inquired, her curiosity piqued. "Oh, it's nothing," I quickly dismissed the issue, not wanting to delve into the sibling altercation.

My mom gave me a scrutinizing look, sensing that something was amiss. "What?" I asked, slightly on guard. "You look pretty today, honey," she remarked, her words filling me with warmth and gratitude. Moms always knew how to uplift our spirits.

"Gosh, Mom, you're making me blush," I replied, feeling a surge of happiness. "Hurry up and eat; you'll be late for school," she advised, shifting the focus to my impending schedule. "Yes, ma'am," I responded dutifully, savoring the aroma and relishing the divine taste of the breakfast she had prepared.

As I finished my meal, I packed my belongings swiftly, aware that I had only 45 minutes left until I would be late for my History class—a subject I found particularly dull. Though the temptation to skip class lingered in my mind, I knew my mom would be disappointed, if not furious, if I were to give in to that temptation.

"Y/n/n!" My eyes widened as I caught sight of her, my childhood friend and secret crush.

"C-Chae, why are you here?" I mentally scolded myself for the sudden stutter in my speech.

"What? Can't I see my own best friend?" she responded casually, unaware of the effect her presence had on me.

"Oh, my God!" She exclaimed, unable to contain my surprise. "What? What's wrong?" I asked, concerned.

"Did you get shorter?" I playfully smacked her shoulder, hoping to hide my embarrassment. "Yahh! Who says I'm short? You're just really tall," I retorted, and I rolled my eyes at her, pretending to ignore her teasing.

"You look cute when you're angry," she remarked, causing my cheeks to flush with embarrassment. 'Stupid Chae,' I thought to myself, flustered by her words.

"Oh, my, are you blushing, Y/n/n?" she teased further, and I tried to deny it. "No, you're just seeing things," I stammered, attempting to brush off her observation. "Whatever you say, Y/n," Chaeyoung replied playfully.

"Move your small legs, Y/n, or we'll be late," she laughed, teasing me once again. "Yahh! Stop calling me short, Chae. You can be so mean sometimes," I pouted, expressing my displeasure. She paused and faced me directly

...

"Come, I'll walk you to class," Chae offered, extending her hand.

"Yay, you're the best, chipmunk," I exclaimed, my gratitude evident. However, as we were about to start walking, a familiar group blocked our path—Jennie's group.

"Ugh, what do you want, Jennie?" Chae confronted them, her protective instincts kicking in as I instinctively hid behind her.

"We don't need you, Park. We're just looking for that shorty behind you," Jennie retorted, her words laced with arrogance.

But Chaeyoung, refusing to back down, marched forward, firmly holding my hand. Her determination and unwavering support made me smile, my heart fluttering as a blush colored my cheeks.

"Thanks, chipmunk," I whispered, appreciating her act of courage.

"It's what best friends are for, Y/n/n," she responded, her words tinged with a hint of sadness that I couldn't help but notice. Despite the pang in my heart, I resolved to cherish the happiness that being by her side brought me.
