Sage's POV

Instead of going back out to look for Monty we stayed at camp and made final preparations before the grounders attacked, digging foxholes and places for landmines to go. As usual Bellamy is hard to please and this time he wishes we used the gunpowder for grenades instead of landmines, which is the exact opposite of what he said earlier. He wanted us to do something useful with the gunpowder if we were going to 'waste it' and this is the way he chose to use it but now he has second thoughts. He's been ordering Raven and I around all morning and while I may be used to it, Raven isn't, and she's not shy of showing her distaste for his tone and attitude. She's mad because after we mine this area by morning we have to go mine the other field, but that's when he said we would go look for Monty, Clarke, and Finn. "If you want to lead them, show that you actually give a damn," she says. Bellamy's answer is cut off by the sound of a gun and now every guard is rushing to their posts while the three of us go to figure out what happened. One of the guards fell asleep after being on watch all day, and when he did his finger pulled the trigger on accident, almost sending camp into chaos. Instead of keeping a level head Bellamy grabs the boy and shakes him while yelling, getting the rest of camp nervous, and even more tension filled. Octavia tries to calm him down but his anger only grows, but the way he explains the situation only makes it that much worse. His paranoia is showing and he says that Clarke, Finn, and Monty are probably dead and that if we don't get ready we will be too, but his speech doesn't really have a motivating tone to it. If anything it makes people want to work less and we can't afford that right now. I cut him off and have a few guards take him to his tent since he isn't of use to us and I get camp back up and running, sending the tired guard to his tent and not even replacing him. We don't have many people awake enough to work, so the guards have to keep watch of double the space to make up for it until the next shift starts in a few hours. Without a doubt if Octavia went missing again he would send out a huge search party for her no matter what, but since it isn't he doesn't make an attempt to care and hides in his tent when we all work.

Raven can't lay down any extra mines until Jasper makes more gunpowder, so there's no reason for us to be outside the wall anymore and now I can finally go talk to Bellamy to see what's wrong with him. When I walk in the tent he hushes me and talks into the walkie, "Tell Bellamy what," he asks calmly. Well at least he's level headed again but what the fuck is going on? Before he could tell me Jasper relies through the radio, "Murphy has a gun and he killed Myles," followed by the sound of someone getting hit over the head with something metal. Even Bellamy looks disappointed that Murphy actually messed up because over the last few days he's actually been really helpful, all for it to just come crashing down when he has an opportunity to get revenge. We stand there stunned and only the sound of the drop ship door breaks us out of it, he's locking himself inside of it, with at least Jasper as a hostage. "You try to be a hero, Jasper dies!" Those are the last words we hear from him before the door slams shut causing all of camp to come to a halt yet again. With no full understanding of how the drop ship was built all we can do is speculate how to get inside while we wait to see if he decides to open the door. We don't move a muscle while Raven actually goes to look at the loose panel we found and finally luck is on our side when she tells us the panel can be removed and will get us inside. Thankfully she told us that just as Octavia rushes over and looks as though she's going to kill us for not doing anything yet, just now finding out what happened to Jasper because she's been busy digging foxholes. Bellamy asks her to go back to work with hopes it spurs the giant group of people gathered around to do the same because they'll only get in the way. If he gets Murphy to come out and come after him like he knows the man wants to they will all be in the line of fire. Murphy won't be careful, he never has been, so why start now? But Octavia refuses to leave because she caught on to our plan and doesn't want him to go through with it but that's only part of it. The door creaks open and Bellamy hands me his axe and walkie before walking in, our last hope as usual being Raven. At first we thought he didn't keep his end of the bargain but at the last second while the door starts to close again, does Jasper appear, still tied up. "Everyone get back to work! Grounders are still coming!" They scramble away giving us space to think about what to do next, which is sending Raven and Jasper into the crawl space to either shoot Murphy or hotwire the controls that open the door. I wait by the opening as they crawl in meaning Octavia is standing out front on her own. So when the sound of a gun firing goes off I rush to her side while she yells into the radio her brother's name, thankfully everyone around camp ignores it. After he says he's okay all we hear is more yelling along with things being moved around or dropped, but what they don't yell is too muffled to understand, leaving us in the dark.
