Sage's POV
After traveling to Polis early in the morning per Lexa's request her warriors finally showed me to my room. Although we traveled by horseback it's a long and tiring journey just to keep the animals on the correct path. There are so many different man made paths, grounder paths and even some repear trails, so keeping them on the correct ones is a challenge. Especially when you have someone riding with you. Octavia may be an easy passenger to ride with, but that doesn't mean she still isn't distracting, because she still very much is. Whether it's purposeful or not. Normally my travels to the capital are alone but this meeting between Lexa and I was so important that she sent her warriors to come get me. Which is rare. Ever since my training has vastly improved over the last few months she's allowed for me to make the journey alone. Even with Ice Nation going rogue. She knows that they have no chance against me in familiar territory and only sends warriors to meet me halfway if there's danger. She's very protective. What's even more rare is her allowing me to bring Octavia along, but it might be because of how long I'll be staying here. After setting our stuff down the warriors ask for Octavia to stay behind for a moment or two while they take me to talk to Lexa alone. While she may trust my girlfriend some things are meant to be between me and the commander, and thankfully they're both on better terms. Before it was extremely hard to get Octavia to leave my side around the woman because of what she tried doing to us. But now they also have a close relationship. Although it wasn't an easy one to produce at first. There was a lot of work on my part to make it work.
Walking into her throne room she waves off my formal entry and greeting before I even stopped to bow in her direction. "You know you don't have to." Although she's right there are a few warriors and others that hate how informal our relationship has become. They take it as me being disrespectful and disrespecting their leader isn't taken lightly. Especially when a second acts in a disrespectful way. They hate that she doesn't punish me, that she doesn't forcefully and painfully put me in my place. It's what I deserve after all in their eyea. But what they don't understand or get to see is that our training has brought us a lit closer than they think. Although feelings supposedly make her and other people weak she does treat me like family. There are many reasons for that bond but it's mostly because she doesn't have any family left and I remind her of the family she used to have. Before she took over. Not because she recognizes me, although that does add a layer to it all, but because she trusts me a lot. "Let me bow down to my Heda please," I say jokingly while kneeling on the floor quickly before engulfing her into a hug. Rolling her eyes she jokingly pushes me off of her and acts disgusted with me hugging her, making us laugh harder than we were before. This is a side of her that no one gets to see but me. To everyone else this is a sign of weakness, a sign that she's not fit to rule, but they couldn't be more wrong. How she can go from this to an emotionless and level-headed warrior is what makes her a ruler.
But these moments only last a few seconds, by her choice or others making it for her, this time it's caused by her Flamekeeper, a man who hates me. Walking into the room he sees how close we are and walks over to me to pull me away from her, making me almost shove him to the ground. "Hello Titus," I say with as much sass as possible while glaring at him coldly. Glaring right back he goes to say something back but the commander stops him. "What're you doing. I asked to talk to her alone." Immediately he apologizes before backing away from me and before walking out of the room he says people will be arriving soon. They're at the gates. This makes her spring into action and have her guards outside grab my armor and sword from my room. While they do so she says that an important mission has finally come to an end, which is why she brought me here. That my presence is important. Not even a second later her warriors come back with my things and she helps me put everything on since she's had her armor on all day it seems. Although this armor and the one she has on is very different. It's not what she'd wear into battle, it's a lot nicer. Not questioning it I turn towards her once everything is on and she tells me what to do when the 'meeting' starts, where to stand and what to do. This time everything between is has to be formal. Now my actions could get me into trouble with her or anyone who doesn't like what I'm doing or saying. "Trust me. They're waiting for an excuse. Please don't give them one. I don't want to do that to you." Nodding my head she smiles slightly before the doors quickly open again, revealing Indra and Titus.
"He's here," the woman says to us without any further explanation even though I'm very confused. So far no one has told me why they've gathered us here and the reason behind my extended stay. Normally there's an explanation or at least some clues as to why they had me travel all the way here if it isn't for training. Mainly to please Octavia and how fiercely protective we are over one another. However this time both women are keeping this a secret from me and that could mean many things. Without another word they all quickly get into position while it takes me a few moments to collect my thoughts. Then moments before the doors to her throne room crash open I stand next to Indra as instructed, my silent obedience greatly pleasing her Flamekeeper. Instead of shooting him a look like my impulsive self deeply wanted I look at the ground instead and preoccupy myself with shutting my emotions down. That makes him even more surprised because he has heard how impulsive and quick witted I am, silence wasn't something he expected of me even though I've been trained extensively to be able to shut down emotionally on command. I can still feel his gaze on me until the doors finally swing open and a man walks in with someone with both of their hands tied together and a burlap sack over their face. From across the room their ragged breathing can be heard. Not out of tiredness, but they're scared and nervous. Why they would be doesn't make sense until the man speaks up, "Wanheda as promised." Now it makes sense why they were being so secretive about why they brought me here. They didn't want me to get my hopes up just in case it isn't who the man thinks it is. It also explains why they sound so nervous, she's being hunted by so many people and she has no idea where she is or who her new captors are about to be. Shoving her down to the ground he takes a moment before ripping the burlap sack off of her head, revealing that he did capture the right person. Knowing my first instinct will be to rush towards her Indra gently and inconspicuously holds onto my arm, a silent warning to stay still, for the time being. Standing up from her throne the same moment the blonde's eye adjust to the bright lighting Lexa finally makes her presence known. Which calmed the captured woman down slightly since she isn't in that much danger now. She thought we were Ice Nation. "Hello Clarke," is all the commander says before walking closer to her and taking in her appearance. It's obvious she isn't happy that Clarke was harmed. But when has the woman ever given up that easily? Which is why when he says such she accepts his answer without a second thought. They stare at each other for a little while before the man starts talking about a deal they made. If he found the blonde and brought her in unharmed then his banishment would be lifted. Obviously under normal circumstances Lexa would fulfill her side of the bargain, but these aren't normal circumstances.
"I'm told your mother's army marches on Polis," she says calmly. That response making the man angry. It's obvious that he has bo control over what his mother does but Lexa doesn't seem to care at all. Our coalition is important and his mother marching on Polis is part of her plan to ruin that coalition. She despises it and doesn't want to follow what the commander is telling her to do. Which is normal behavior for Ice Nation but they've never threatened to march on the capital in the past for emphasis. Normally they just ignore commands and leave everyone alone unless they were in the mood to fight or rebel some more. Which is happening a lot lately. With him not offering to talk his mother down Lexa has no choice but to order her guards to lock the man away. Them doing so before she finished talking due to their obvious displeasure for the man. Then from there Titus speaks up and asks what we're going to do about the blonde, but she interrupts him. Motioning towards the door she asks to be left alone with the woman to talk privately for a moment, that order not being well accepted by the Flamekeeper. Halfway out of the room he turns around an motions towards me since I haven't moved yet, his distaste for me fully on display again, angering her deeply. Lashing out at him he quickly turns around and leaves the room with a look of utter defeat on his face, that alone making me smile wickedly at him. Once the doors close Lexa allows me to stand by her side again while she talks to Clarke, who doesn't look happy to be here in the slightest. Especially when her presence is due to the fact that there's another war brewing and Lexa couldn't afford the Ice Queen getting to her first and absorbing all of her power. She's also not over the betrayal at the mountain and me standing next to her tops it off for her, she's not happy what I've forgiven the woman, even though she knows the betrayal hurt me. I just have better control over my emotions than she does and can see the bigger picture. The importance of winning this war rather than holding onto months long grudges. Spitting in our faces the guards pull her away from us while she screams incoherently at us, only her final words before the doors shit making any sense. "You bitch! You wanted the Commander of Death, you fucking got her! I'll kill you! I'll kill you both!"
