CHAPTER 1

ENZO'S POV

It wasn't easy to leave High School life behind. Friends that we shared memories with are the most precious thing in someone's life.

All the people we have met that has been part of our lives would remain as our memories when we have already focused on our goals in life. Yes, it would be missed a lot but we need to leave it all behind to focus on the present and future.

First day of college and it felt like just a regular day.

I've been with our maids when I was a kid since my parents were so engaged with our business and they spent most of their time for several meetings they attend to.

Besides, I've been really close to Aling Maria and others.

As I finish taking a bath, I grabbed the towel to dry off my body and wrapped it around my waist then grabbed another piece again to dry off my hair.

What a sunny day.

I whispered to myself as I looked out my window to see the garden and the weather.

It took me a few minutes to get ready. I was wearing my black pants and a plain white shirt. I sat down on my bed to put on my socks and shoes then fixed my hair.

Once I was done, I grabbed two pens from my study table and put it in my back pocket. First day of school naman, diba? For sure wala pa namang gagawin.

I went downstairs to have breakfast. I saw that my parents were nowhere in sight. So, I went straight into the kitchen and saw Aling Maria and other maids preparing my meal.

"Good morning po." I smiled at them and sat down.

"Good morning, nak." Aling Maria said as she smiled at me, sweetly.

Aling Maria has been working for us several years when my parents were not around she was the one who took care of me.

"Kumain na kayo? Sabayan niyo na po ako." I told her and she shook her head, smiling at me.

"Tapos na kami. Kumain kana at baka ma-late ka pa sa school." She patted my shoulder and started to arrange the remaining washed dishes into the cabinet. I smirked from what she had said as I started eating my breakfast and said,

"Okay lang ma-late, first day naman eh." The other maids laughed and Aling Maria did, too.

"Hay nako! Kung narinig ka ng mama at papa mo baka mapagalitan ka." She said and still amused by what I said. I just smiled and finished my breakfast.

When I was a kid, my parents always wanted me to go to school as early as possible because, for them, that was the first step to become a responsible man.

It was weird. I know but I've come to realize that they meant to say that "Treasure time when it involves significant things."

But as time passed by, that motto faded away when I started my senior high school.

Always late but never been absent.

Once I was done, I brushed my teeth once again and I wiped off my mouth and dried my hands with paper towels then threw it into the trash bin.

As I was walking towards the living room, my phone vibrated in my pocket. It was an unregistered number on my phone but when I read the message I knew who it was.

Hindi ako mahilig mag-save ng phone number eh.

"Yo! Papasok ka?"

Typical, Eusaff. I rolled my eyes and chuckled. I texted him back.

"Syempre. First day na first day a-absent?" I sent. He replied seconds later.

"That's the point, man. First day naman e, pwede yan!" I chuckled as I shook my head then said,

"As much as I want to, you know I can't do that, bro. Seriously, nasaan kana?"

"Dito kami sa harap ng bahay niyo." As I received his message, I heard a honked coming from the outside of our house. I opened the door and I saw my two best friends laughing at me.

"Get in, loser!" Eusaff shouted. I almost, almost gave them the middle finger but the neighbor was watching at us so I just raised my ring finger and laughed with them, instead.

Aling Maria and I bid our goodbyes to each other and run to Eusaff's car and got in, seating in the passenger seat as I closed the door.

"We came to pick you up, baby boy." He said grinning at me and drove off to school.

"Obviously." I said as I rolled my eyes at him, playfully. He shrugged his shoulders and a mysterious smile on his face.

"What?" I asked.

"Well, your dad told my dad na sunduin ka, baby boy. Si Kevin naman, gusto niya magpasundo kasi tinatamad mag-drive." Eusaff said as he shook his head.

Kevin laughed lightly and I looked at him through the rear-view mirror fixing his things in his bag. I turned around on my seat and stared at him.

Really, Kevin Steve?

"What?" He looked back at me, annoyingly but a smile still on his face.

"Really? A bag?" I told him, laughing a little.

"Kaya nga, Kev. Same questions. Really? A bag?" Eusaff asked as we both teased our best friend seating in the backseat.

"Precaution." He chuckled, playfully punching us both on the shoulder.

I turned up the music from the radio and the three of us singing along to the song.

It was indeed a sunny day. A good day to be exact especially being with these two a-holes.

I couldn't even tell if I was excited about college. If my friends were excited then,

Sana all.

I know how hard it is to be in college and the pressure is there, not only to the requirements that the teachers giving to the students and events that are happening at school but also to the other people we meet.

How do I know all these? From my brother, Ethan.

Of course, he also became a college student, and from all those years, I saw how hard it was to be in those times.

Regardless of all the challenges he faced, he still managed to study hard, and now, he had put up his own business with his own money. – restaurant business.
