Percy's POV
In a week, the hospital let me out. The scars on my back would heal, they said. I would go to school on Monday, two days from now. My friends visited me. Annabeth only left at night. She looked much weaker, and I was concerned. I knew she blamed herself for my position, but she would see she was innocent when I got out. Her dad also had respect for me, which was awesome. Having your girlfriend's dad love you is great.
"Want some more blue cookies?" Mom asked. I nodded taking a plate of a dozen, and sharing them with Annabeth, who sat next to me on my bed. We were talking about things, and she was catching me up on school. I guess everyone knew the story, since I was excused from a ton of stuff.
"I don't wanna go to school," I said to Annabeth.
"You need an education, Percy."
"No, that's not what I mean. Everyone's gonna be all over us now, but I don't know how. We'll be the center of attention at school."
"I know, Percy! Remember, I went to school all week. Everyone kept telling me how they felt bad for us and how your a great guy for saving my life. Oddly, it puts me down. I feel worse for doing this."
"Stop saying that, Annabeth. You didn't almost kill me or put me in the hospital. My scars will heal in time, and I'll be good old Percy Jackson. I'll start swimming again and it'll be perfect."
"Sure it will, Percy, because we love each other."
"Yep."
* * *
On Monday, I wore comfy jeans and a blue hoodie with red sneakers. Annabeth was wearing a grey dress and blue converse with a blue bow in her hair. We were in my car, driving to school.
"I'm nervous," I admitted to Annabeth, looking at her driving my car, eyes focused on the road.
"Don't be. I'm with you, okay?" She smiled, parking at school. She walked over and helped me out of the car. I could walk easily, but Annabeth insisted on being my guide today. We had classes together, and teachers were being nice to us.
"Oh my gosh, Percy! I can't believe you're here! We missed you so much!" Drew came squealing at the top of her lungs with her possy. I groaned inwardly, not looking at her. This was the girl that almost drowned Annabeth.
"Go away, Drew," Annabeth spoke up.
"Shut up, bitch. You got Percy like this anyways."
Annabeth stopped walking. Her eyes got all watery, and she looked like she would cry. She was breathing heavily and her hands were clenched at her sides.
"Annabeth... don't listen to her." I put an arm around her, and she cried into my chest. Drew scoffed and walked away with her friends.
Drew's POV
Every time I try breaking them up, I bring them closer. At the pool, and now? Annie's weak, and Percy needs a strong girl to show him. I have money, looks, and everything! But that girl has Percy. Ugh! Why don't I have a boyfriend that risks his life for me? I was so tired of those two.
Percy kissed her cheek and led her to the school. Annabeth had stopped crying, and was laughing at something Percy had said. He was just so hot.
