Annabeth's POV
With Gabe in jail, Percy seemed more relaxed, but sometimes he'd forget the danger was gone. We'd walk to his house, and he would try to hide me. It was silly, but I felt bad for Percy.
"Do you want a drink?" Percy asked as we walked into his apartment. I nodded, setting my bag down. Percy grabbed two sodas and sat next to me on the couch. We flipped on the TV, but no one watched it.
"So, Percy. How long till the bandages are off?"
"Another week. I'm sick of them," Percy sighed, wrapping his arms around me.
I moved closer, and we were face to face now. Percy closed the gap, kissing my lips with pashion. I responded immediately, and trailed my hands up his hair. He moved his arms down around my stomach, and kissed me only a bit harder. I didn't mind at all. In a second he was on top of me, and we only parted to take breaths. I didn't realize how much I'd missed Percy. My Percy.
"Perc- oh!" Sally walked in on us. Percy got up, and I fixed my hair.
"Er, Mom. Hi."
"I don't care. I don't care." Sally left, a smirk on her face, taking her groceries to the kitchen.
We got up, and we went to help her in the kitchen.
"Annabeth, could you help me unpack?" Sally asked.
"Of course." We enjoyed the rest of the day. Everything was perfect.
* * *
After having dinner with Percy and Sally, I went home. Percy requested to walk me, but I refused. Helen, my step mom, Bobby and Mathew were at sone relative's place. Dad was at some meeting, and wouldn't be home for a while. I had the place to myself for the night, and I planned on studying. Because that's what you do when you have a boyfriend and large house to yourself for a whole night. You study alone.
I got home, placing my coat in the closet, and I fixed myself a bowl of popcorn to take to my bedroom. I changed into a large shirt and some short, putting my hair into a messy bun. I got out my homework and my notes, going over everything.
At around midnight, while I was watching some late night TV, I heard the front door open. My step fam was staying at their relatives, and my dad wasn't supposed to come back from the faraway meeting until tomorrow. Maybe he came back early? I slipped on some slippers, and crept to the staircase.
"Dad?" I called out. No answer. Something was wrong. I crept back to my room, grabbing my phone off my bed. I typed 9-1-1 into the keypad.
"9-1-1, What's your emergency?"
"I'm Annabeth Chase. I heard the front door open and shut. I'm a teenage girl. I-I think someone is in here." I gave her my address.
"Sweetheart, arm yourself if possible. Help is on the way. Hide yourself if possible, or leave, NOW. Stay on the phone, though."
No need to tell me twice. I locked my bedroom door securing it with my desk, and I ran to my window, opening it up. I was on the second floor, and it was a long jump. The rope in my closet! I ran to my wardrobe, pulling out clothes, looking for the rope I kept for reasons like this. I secured it to my bed leg, and threw it out the window.
Footsteps, right outside my door.
I had to hurry. I pocketed my still-on phone, grabbed my sneakers and Percy's sweater, which he lent me, and ran over to the window.
Someone was trying the knob.
I took a deep breath, looking at the ground. I securely grabbed the rope, and pulled myself out of my home.
