I can feel the tears that have slipped past my eyes.
The room grows quiet as I observe my surroundings. A tube is in my mouth, Ivs are in both my arms and ny chest is exposed. Doctors and nurses are to my left and Dylan and my mom are to my right, she is sitting at the foot of the bed, her hand on my calf.
The doctor that brought me back to life puts the paddles back down.
No one dares to speak, why?
Dylan observes me with his eyes, eyes that are full of unshed tears. He kisses my hand softly as he lets out a sigh of gratitude.
The silence is quickly replaced by bustling movement as people scramble to take pulse rates and remove the tube from my throat.
"Rosie." Dylan breathes out causing my eyes to flicker to his. "Are you in pain?" He asks softly.
I shake my head nod before they pull the breathing tube out of my throat. "Luna." I look over to the doctor as she hands me a drink.
I take it gratefully. The cool water soothes my burning throat and I feel myself relax slightly. Dylan wipes away the tears that rest on my cheeks.
"We need to know what attacked you." She tells me as she adjusts the tubing on the IV.
"Bring me the book," I tell Dylan, my voice is scratchy, unused, "how long have I been out?" I ask my mother as she moves to take Dylans place as he goes to find the book. "A month." She tells me. Her eyes are red and puffy, it's clear she has been crying.
A month, it only felt like hours.
"Here you go love." Dylan says as he gives me the book. They help me sit up and I groan softly as the unused muscles are suddenly used.
I flip through the book slowly.
I find the page with the hellhound and flip it once more.
Glowing red eyes stare back at me and images flash through my mind.
"This is it." I tell them pushing the book away from me.
"It's a shadow from the underworld, they are called Shadow Ghosts. They hide in the shadows and only come out when summoned or when their prey is near. The venom in their claws are toxic and deadly. They are powerful but can be beaten." The doctor reads.
"Can you fix my mate?" Dylan asks. "Yes." She tells him sighing with relief as she reads more.
I look up at her, "how?"
"It's a special herb. You'll have to go to a witch to get it. Its called Purnella Vulgaris." She tells us.
"I know a witch, I can go get it." My mom tells me as she kisses my forehead, "stay alive." She whispers softly.
She walks out of the room in a hurry as does Dylan. "Luna," I turn my attention to the doctor, "I'll keep your body numb and I'll give you morphine every thirty minutes, your body burns off the medicines extremely fast." She explains.
I nod as I lean my head against the hard hospital bed.
I drift in and out of sleep as the day dredges on. Dylan comes back in and grabs my hand causing me to jump a bit. "Sorry." He tells me as I look over at him. "It's ok." I reply as he gives me a soft smile.
"What exactly happened? How did you find me?" I ask him. "When you broke out of the treeline, the pack link went crazy. Everyone was reaching out to me. Something about you unconscious and bloody. That was enough for me to go there immediately," his eyes glaze over as he relives the memory, "when I got there, my heart stopped, i couldn't hesr your heart beat, I've always been able to hear your heart, even when you turned into a vampire." He tells me as his hand tightens around mine.
I place my hand gently on his cheek causing his eyes to flicker to mine, "I love you."
"I love you too." He tells me as he kisses my palm softly. "Fighting that thing was weird, it looked harmless but then an arm amd hand with claws formed and it lashed out then disappeared. You have to be fast and the way I killed it was with fire. Something that doesn't have any form burned. I was terrified and angry." I tell him softly.
"I've been a horrible mate." He tells me grimly. "You haven't." I whisper.
"I have, you have been in this hospital more times than you should have, I haven't been there for you, I pushed you away, I didn't try to understand." He tells me as anger at himself shows.
I feel a tear slip down my cheek, "we all make mistakes. You couldn't have known any of that could have happened."
"But I should have."
"But you couldn't have." I retort.
"I don't deserve you." He tells me. "Oh hush, you have saved me everytime, I'm not perfect either." I reply.
"You are to me." He says causing me to smile, "how cliché." I respond.
He kisses me softly and I smile against his lips, "I need more medicine." I tell him.
He gets the nurse and as soon as the pain starts it stops.
The veins in my leg are black and the veins around my stomach are the same.
"Here," Dylan gives me a cup of dark red liquid, "I thought this could help you."
I take it gratfully and drink all of it, "yours?" I ask and he nods. "The doctor said it would help."
"It did." I tell him and he grins as he sighs in relief.
My mother hurries in the door her face grim as she looks out of breath. She hands the purple plant to the doctor and sits on the other side of the bed. "Are you ok?" I ask.
"I had to kill her." She tells me. "Why?"
"She wasn't going to give it to me. She refused, I'm not sure why, after everything I've done for her. She attacked me first I would have gone to my other source but she attacked first." She tells me repeating words, I can tell she is slightly in shock.
"Thank you." I tell her as I grip her hand softly.
