Days drag on painfully slow as no changes are made. My hand stays firmly glued to his in the meantime. "Here you go Luna." A small red haired woman hands me a cup of steamy black coffee.
"Thank you Harriet." I mumble tiredly as I look over at my still sleeping mate. It has been over a week, but the heart monitor beeps strongly. He is breathing on his own now as well.
They think it will be any day now. The doctor explained that the reason he isn't waking up as quick as they hoped is because of the extent of his wounds.
His wolf has shut down his body to heal it. His wound is now a pink scar that can barely be seen.
I take a sip of the warm coffee and feel it travel down my throat. I lean back in the chair as I study his face.
It's relaxed, even though he was in so much pain and has gone through so much, it still looks young. He has no wrinkles or worry lines. He looks like a god.
"Staring is rude." He mumbles as he slowly opens his eyes. My grip on the cup slips causing it to fall to the floor.
Hos voice is raspy and rough. I shakily get up and fill a cup with water. "You're awake." I whisper as a tear slips down my cheek.
He drinks the water slowly and cracks me a small smile. "What happened?" He questions as my shaky hands grip onto his.
"A vengeful vampire stabbed you for no reason. Rogues killed his coven." I reply. "Where is it now?" He questions as he presses the button to sit up. "Dead." I reply as I stare at him in awe.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" He asks softly. "You almost died. They didn't think you were going to wake up." I tell him as I wipe the tear away.
He gestures for me to come closer as he pulls the sheet back. I climb in next to him gently. "This wasn't payback." He tells me as he kisses my forehead. "You heard that?" I aska astonished.
"I heard everything. It felt like a dream though." He explains as his fingers run through my hair softly. "I missed your voice." I say as my eyes meet his. He gives me a warm smile and pulls me closer.
"I love you little wolf." He whispers as kisses my lips softly. "I love you too." I tell him as I smile against his lips.
I press the call button. "The doctor should check you since your awake." I say as I go to climb out if the small bed. He pulls me back into him as a nurse runs into the room. "Not yet." He orders gently.
The nurses face relaxes as she notices him awake. "Rosie I brought you some lunch, you've been here al-" Dylans mother stops in her tracks as the bag in her hands falls to the floor.
"Hey mom." Dylan smiles at her as she starts to cry. I get off the bed as she rushes over to embrace him.
The doctor comes in a few minuets later and checks him over. Her expression the entire time only gets more happy. "You are free to go Alpha, but rest and lot's of it. No fighting anyone any time soon." She orders as she hands me his release papers. "Your vitals and overall healing has been progressing this last week. Normally I would keep you one more night, but we agree it's ok for you to go home." She explains.
Dylan nods and smiles, "will do doc. Thank you." I sign the papers before handing them back to her. She nods before leaving the room once more. "I'm going to go home and cook you some food for the week. I'll bring it later." His mom says excitedly.
She rushes out of the room ignoring his protests. He let's out a heavy sigh as she disappears around the corner. "Ok, lets go home this time. No dying in the parking lot." I tease.
He smirks at me as he sits on the edge of the bed slowly. I help him dress in sweat pants and a shirt. "Is it clear?" He asks as we stop at the sliding doors.
I laugh softly and nod. "All clear." I reply as we walk slowly to the car. We make it back home without any trouble. "Looks like we have finally made it back home safe and sound." Dylan jokes as he gets out of the car. "I know, I feel as if we haven't been home in decades." i reply laughing softly. Dylan leans on me as we make our way up the stairs.
"I have been taking care of things around the pack. I was working on paperwork that needed to be done urgently while you were asleep. I made the decision I thought you would have made." I tell him as I catch him up on the current state of the pack.
"I trust you baby." He tells me as he sits on the bed with a sigh. I stand between his legs and kiss him softly. He lightly grips onto my hips and smiles against my lips. "You need to rest Alpha." I mumble as I run my fingers through his hair. "I have been resting for a week. I need you now." He whispers.
I bite my lip softly and shake my head. "Nope, doctor said no, when you go back to work. We can go back to work." I tell him as I give him a wink. He pouts at me before kissing me once more, he kisses me deeply, as if he is going to lose me. I feel this kiss in my toes.
"Come on Alpha, let's sleep. " I order softly as I strip down and climb into bed next to him. I quietly pray to the moon goddess that no more unexpected tragedies happen. I have had more than enough to last me ten life times.
