The car is silent as we drive back to the pack. Only the sound of tires on gravel are heard as we make our way towards home.
I get out as soon as we stop and take in a breath. "Finally home." I mumble as I grab my bag. "Don't get too comfortable, we won't be staying long." Dylan growls out as he slams the car door shut.
I flinch at his tone as I follow him inside. "What do you mean?" I ask. "You are going to be a queen and you are dragging me along to be king." He whispers out harshly. "I don't want to be a queen. I never did." I say calmly as my eyes assess his.
He lets out a deep sigh as he drops the bags on the floor. "I'm sorry." He tells me as he pulls me into his arms. I rest my head against his chest and let his warmth calm my nerves. "I won't be crowned for a while. We are still here for now." I tell him softly. "I know. That wasn't fair of me to say." He whispers as he kisses my cheek softly.
"You know what isn't fair? That puppy dog look you give me every time you slip up." I mumble. "I do not." he argues as he pulls back with a smile. I stand up on my tiptoes and kiss him deeply. He lets out a groan as he picks me up. My legs instantly wrap around his waist my back hits the wall. He kisses down my neck causing a soft moan to leave my lips.
He eagerly rips open my shirt as his eyes travel down. "Fuck, you're so beautiful." I feel my cheeks heat up from the compliment as I undo his shirt. His muscles tense as my touch travels downward to his jeans. He grabs my hands and pins them above my head leaving me exposed. "All mine." he growls.
"Hey Alp- Oh god!" I giggle as Dylan growls loudly and stands over me. "Hi Trevor!" I call out from under Dylan. "Hi-hi Luna." he stutters as he covers his eyes. "Leave Trevor, while you can still see." Dylan growls loudly. '"Sorry sir." he mumbles as he stumbles out.
I look up at Dylan and smirk as my hand slowly makes its way into his pants, "you should probably see what he needed." I whisper as I stroke him slowly causing every muscle in his body to tense.
He takes in a sharp breath as his eyes close, "Fuck that." he growls out as he tosses me over his shoulder.
"He can wait." He replies huskily as he slaps my butt. I let out a soft giggle as he hauls me upstairs.
---
I feel Dylan place soft kisses on my neck as he wraps his arm around my waist. The sun is already starting to set causing an ornage hue to illuminate the room.
He kisses my cheek and buries his face in my neck. "Promise me something." He whsipers. "What?" I ask as his fingers intertwine in mine.
"No matter how much we fight or think we may hate each other. No matter anything that happens to us. Please never leave me.
I turn to look at him and place my hand on his cheek. I run my thumb slowly over it as he leans into my hand. "I promise." I whisper softly.
The orange light makes his eyes hypnotic. I kiss him gently causing a small smile to appear on his lips.
He settles behind me and pulls me into his chest. "I heard what Alpha Miles said to you." He confesses. "And?" I ask softly as I watch sun disappear.
"About time." He chuckles. I smile at his response turn to face him. I rest my head on his arm as we just lay there looking at each other.
If I were with any other person this would have extremely awkward, but with Dylan, it's not. It's as if we are speaking and saying so much with so little.
He kisses my nose gently as his hand rests on my hip. "I don't want to be a queen." I tell him. "I know. You're going to he a great one though. I will be by your side every step of the way. You'll never have to worry." He says. His eyes hold no trace of lies.
My heart thumps in my chest as his words reach my ears. This is forever, we are forever.
His eyes glaze over as he gets up abruptly. "What's wrong?" I ask him as concern laces my tone. "A body has been found near the north border. Get dressed. It is too mangled to be recognized they need our help." His tone has shifted. Every alpha has a tie to his pack member, when a tie is cut the alpha feels it.
We make our way to the north border, there is already a small crowd. They part, letting us through. "Who found it?" I ask Dylan as the overwhelming stench of death invades my nostrils. "Pack patrol." he grumbles as we finally reach the front.
My heart stops as the sight of the mangled body in front me. I move a bit closer and feel my chest tighten. "Dylan." I whisper softly as I kneel down next to the body. "What is it?" he asks as he kneels beside me.
A tear falls down my cheek as I hesitantly grab the gold chain around their neck. The metal is covered in blood as it lays in my now shaking hand. "Not again." I whisper softly. "What is it?" Dylan asks once more the worry in his tone increases.
"It's Nadia." I whisper softly as I sink on my knees. My eyes never leave the body as the chain weighs heavy in my hand. "I gave her this for her birthday this year." I tell him.
"No!" a deep voice yells. "Nadia!" Asher screams as he stumbles forward and sinks to his knees beside us. "Our connection weakened earlier but I thought it was because of the distance. She went shopping." he sobs. "Please come back to me baby. I'm sorry. please don't leave me like this." he cries out as he grips her bloodied hand.
Dylan nods his head and the scene is instantly cleared. Asher sits numbly beside us after an hour. The pack coroner comes and takes the body away then. "I'm sorry." I whisper weakly as I stand on shaky legs. I place the cold chain into his palm before walking off slowly.
I walk into the house and immediately walk into the kitchen. I grab the soap and scrub the blood off my hands as bile rises in my throat and tears fall from my eyes. Images of our first encounter flash through my mind. She was my only friend, the only one who was kind to me. She barely lived and now she is in the morgue.
Dylan comes up behind me and grips my hands softly, preventing me from scrubbing my raw flesh. He crosses my arms against my chest and holds me to him tightly. "Let it out baby." he whispers
I let out a scream of anger and sadness as my heart tears in two and my emotions overwhelm my body. Sobs come out recklessly as everything hits me at once. Every loss, war, scar, wound. Everything.
