Chapter 23: Forgetful.

A faint voice calls out to me.

"Bri...!" The tone was urgent and the voice seemed frightened.

Just give me five more minutes...

"Bri...!"

Stop trying to wake me up,  I'll get ready for school soon!

I feel someone violently shake my shoulders and I feel a sharp pain in my neck.

"Bri, get up!"

It's more comfortable in my bed, thank you.

I'm shaken again.

"I'm sorry, Bri..."

Why are you sorry?

My body is consumed by a freezing liquid and I'm dragged out of my thoughts and into the real world.

I start to shiver and I look around me, I was sitting in a field next to a lake.

This isn't my home...

"Bri, I'm glad your okay..."

A sandy man with an adorable green hat hugs me tightly while an...Imp? And a bunny sit behind him.

"Uhmm...heyyy...uhhh..."
What was his name again?

I pat his back uncomfortably.

"I was so worried about you. You collapsed, and wouldn't wake up for over ten minutes!"

"Heh, uhmmm...do I know you?"

The man releases our rather tight hug and looks at me, confused.

"Bri, stop messing around with me."

He smiles at me and laughs.

"Who's Bri?"

"Stop it, Bri!"

He chuckles again.

"I'm serious, who is she?"

He looks at me, his smiled faded and disbelief evident on his face.

"Wait... you can't remember,  anything?"

I shake my head.

"No... I'm sorry."

Wait, I can't remember anything...No, this can't be happening. Not a single memory, none. Words were all I knew, and that was it.

The man looks away for a second, his eyes glazing over and his jaw clenched.

"Am I supposed to remember you?"

He looks back at me, a fake smile etched on his face.

"Yeah, I'm Link."

"I... I'm..." I laugh pathetically.

"I don't know my name..." Tears whell in my eyes and I quickly wipe them away.

"It's fine..."

"Link, can we talk?" The Imp behind, Link asks.

"Yeah..." He glances sorrowly at me, while I just sit there, smiling a bit too harshly at him.

They walk a ways away, just out of earshot, but I heard one word escape their lips.

"Amnesia..."

"Are you hungry?" The man asked me, he had been caring for me non-stop ever since I woke up.
