Decisions - Newt

"Y/N, can I talk to you for a moment?" Minho asks.
I nod. "Yeah, sure.. What's up?"
"I, uh, well.. I'm worried. About us. You don't seem to be the same Y/N anymore as when we first got together.."
"Minho.. I.. I need to tell you something. And I'm terribly sorry."
My eyes start burning, like I have to cry.
"Look, Y/N," Minho says. "I prefer you breaking my heart being honest over you making me feel all good and special while it's-"
"Minho, you are amazing. Really. It's nothing personal and it's not that I don't like you anymore or something.. Just not.. in that way. Not anymore.. I'm sorry."
Tears are starting to make their way down my face when I see my boyfriend's hurt expression. "Are you.. Are you in love with someone else?"
I nod. "Yeah.."
"Newt?"
I nod again, feeling embarrased. "Minho-"
"Don't. I understand, okay? I do. I see the way you look at him. And Newt is amazing. I just.. Sorry. Got to go. Doors are opening. Bye, Y/N.."
"Minho, wait!" I shout, but he ignores me and makes his way to the West Door and disappears into the Maze with Thomas.

I just sit there, by the Box, where Minho was sitting next to me only a few seconds ago. And I broke his heart. I did. And I really hate myself for that. He didn't deserve it. Poor Minho..
Tears are streaming down my face when I hear foot steps behind me. "Leave me alone!" I cry.
"Y/N.."
"I said-" I stop yelling as soon as I realize whose voice it is. I turn around and see Newt, standing only a few feet away from me.
"Y/N, are you okay?" he asks, looking concerned. He walks toward the Box and sits down next to me.
I shake my head.
"What's going on? You can tell me - I'm your friend."
"I- I broke Minho's heart.. By telling him that I don't have these feelings for him anymore. I feel so awful, Newt.. So awful. I'm such an awful person-"
"Hey, shh, it'll be okay.. I promise," he says and pulls me in a hug.
"Thank you, Newt. It's just.."
"It's what?"
"It's the way I broke his heart," I cry.
"Why?"
"Yeah, well, telling someone that you're in love with someone else is not really the best way to break up.."
"You are- I mean, yeah, but break-ups are never easy, sweetie."
"Did you just call me 'sweetie'?"
"Huh? Uh.. No.." I see Newt blush a bit.
"Aww, you're blushing!" I joke.
"No, I'm not!" he laughs. "Back to your problem. So.. Can you tell me?"
"Tell you what?"
"Who you're in love with? I'm a friend, I won't tell anyone. Please."
I think about it. Should I tell him?
Shuck it, I think. I've already ruined a lot today.
"Well.. It's.. You." I quickly look away.
"Really?" he asks.
I nod.
"Does Minho know?"
I nod again.
"Okay.."
"Newt-"
"Y/N, I'm serious, so please believe me when I say.. I.. like you too. I've liked you since you arrived in the Box. You never noticed, though."
"Aww, Newt.. I'm sorry."
"It's okay," he smiles weakly.
It's quiet for a moment. Then Newt starts talking.
"Y/N?"
"Hmm?" I look up and stare into his beautiful eyes.
He smiles, shyly. "I love you.. So bloody much."
I smile. "Newt.."
I want to say something - that I love him too - but he doesn't let me.
He smiles again, then leans in to kiss me.
