"Newt, would you calm down for a second?!" Sonya sighs, looking at her big brother from the dinner table.

Newt, who keeps walking around the room, turns around and looks at the blonde girl looking at him. "Sorry. I'm just so bloody nervous."

The girl rolls her eyes. "You'll be fine!"
She stands up from her chair and walks up to Newt.

"But, what if they don't like him?"

"Come on, big brother. I'm sure they will. I've met Thomas – he's a great guy. Mum and Dad would be crazy if they don't like him," Sonya says, putting a hand on her brother's shoulder.

Newt had been dating Thomas for about three months now – and his parents knew about their relationship.
They'd always been very supportive of Newt – "no matter what" – and so Newt had decided to come out to them a little less than a year ago, after telling his sister – and friend – Sonya first. He'd still been scared, but his parents indeed accepted and supported him, as they'd promised, and Newt was glad he'd told them.

About two weeks after he and Thomas got together, he told the good news to Sonya and his parents. They'd smiled, congratulated him and even hugged him, saying they were so happy for him.

Today, it was Christmas Day, and Newt's parents had suggested to invite Thomas over for dinner at their house – which had been pretty last-minute.
Thomas had happily agreed when Newt invited him, but given the fact that he'd never met his boyfriend's parents before, he'd immediately started worrying, Newt could tell.

And now, Newt was freaking out as well. He hadn't slept much and he was constantly walking around the house because he was so nervous.

What would his parents think of Thomas?
Would they really approve of their relationship, seeing them together?

And what would Thomas think of his parents?
Would he feel welcome and comfortable? Newt hoped so. He didn't want his boyfriend to feel akward and uncomfortable.

"Thank you, Sonya," Newt says, looking up from his hands and meeting his sister's eyes. "Shouldn't you get ready, by the way?"

She laughs. "Yeah, probably. And so do you. Go change and look amazing for your Tommy," she says smiling, and gets up to walk out of the living room.

"Hey!" Newt shouted, laughing.
He always called Thomas Tommy. He didn't know why exactly, it just happened one day and Thomas seemed to like his new nickname.

Newt got up as well and followed his sister upstairs, each of them disappearing into their own room. He walked to his wardrobe, took out his suit and smiled. He'd waited so long to finally wear this again.
And Thomas would get to see him wearing it.

Suddenly feeling nervous, Newt started to change his casual clothes for his suit. When he was done, he fixed his hair in the bathroom and walked downstairs.

"Newt, you really don't know how to put on a tie, do you?" Sonya laughed when she walked back into the living room, about twenty minutes after Newt. "Here, let me fix it."

Newt got up let his sister fix his tie.
"And, done!" she said happily. "Now you're all ready to meet Thomas."

"Thanks, sis," he smiled. "When will Mum and Dad get back anyway?"

Sonya shrugged. "Don't know. Didn't say where they were going to either."

"Hm. Okay then." For the first time, Newt really looked at his sister's outfit – she was wearing a beautiful dress and perfectly matching accessories, her naturally wavy hair falling over her left shoulder as she'd put it all to one side. "You look amazing, sis."
