Chapter 24 - The Countdown Starts

"Why do you say that? Did something happen that I don't know of?" he asks. "There was a time that your family took you back to your mother's hometown for a short while. I was alone in the palace and it was before the cousins came along. Even though I was still young I still remember it very clearly..." she says while thinking back to the old memories.

YueLing was bored and it was her first time being separated from LiTing. She was running around the whole palace playing hide and seek with all the servants that were looking after her. She ended up in the west palace without knowing, and she hardly had any interaction with Lady Yang either so she can barely recognize her. YueLing started to look around her garden and saw some pretty flowers and started picking them so she could give them to her mother later.

"Who gave you permission to trespass into my palace? And who gave you permission to destroy my flowers?" a voice asks from behind her. YueLing turns around and a hand has landed on her face. She was in so much pain even her baby teeth came out and her face was bleeding. She cries and cries so loud that it startled all the guards and servants running to the scene of the crime. Everyone within the palace walls is very familiar with the cry of the princess. Since she and the queen were always the targets of so many incidents. It was always the cry of the little princess that saved the queen from all harm.

When most of the guards and servants show up, Lady Yang pretends that she was also rushing to the scene to see what has happened. She was acting all caring and kind to the little princess. "Oh dear, what happened to you did you trip while you were picking flowers. How careless are you? Let me help you up. Somebody, call for the physicians, the princess is injured very badly." she calls out very fakely.

YueLing wants to tell everyone that it was Lady Yang that hit her. But she was in so much pain that she can't even say a single word. The words got to the king's ears and he rushes to the west palace. Before the physicians and the king arrives, Lady Yang took her into her palace and told all YueLings servants to wait outside. Everyone inside her chamber was all her people. "You little brat you better shut up and not say a single word of what really happened here or else I will throw you down the well and leave you there to die!" she warns YueLing while pointing her finger at YueLing. Upon hearing this threat YueLing became even more afraid. She just kept on crying and crying no one could make her stop at all. "Stop crying already you little brat! Someone shut her up already. It's getting very annoying!" Lady Yang screams out.

Before anyone can say another word the king came rushing through the doors. He ignores everyone in the chamber and runs toward his princess picking her up in his arms. "My precious princess are you ok? Let me take a good look at you. Oh my, your lips are bleeding. What happened to you?" he asks her and she just cries and cries. She was too afraid to even say anything. "WHERE IS THE PHYSICIANS!" the king screams in frustration.

"Your majesty, they are coming soon please don't worry too much. The little princess for some reason came to visit me and she was picking flowers and I guess she was too concentrated on the flowers that she missed stepped and fell. When I heard her crying I ran as fast as I could to her but I was still too late. It's my fault your majesty please punish me for not taking good care of her highness." she says as she kowtows. In her heart, she is cursing the princess for making her kowtow to her.

"Lady Yang it's not your fault. You couldn't have predicted that or prevented it from happening. I'll take YueLing back to my chamber since it's on the same path that the physicians are coming from. She must be in lots of pain right now." the king says while leaving with YueLing in his arms against his chest and shoulder. YueLing looks back at the evil witch straight in the eyes and Lady Yang gives her the hand signal of 'slicing the neck' warning her if she talks, she'll be dead.
