Chapter 11 - YueLing

One big stormy night in the mortal realm, it's June 2nd. In the palace of Chang'an, the queen all of a sudden in her seventh month of pregnancy, she went into labour. Everyone in the palace was all in a panic since nothing was prepared for the early arrival of the baby. Some say when a child is born prematurely is a jinx or a curse to the royal family and others say it's a blessing from god when a child is born in the seventh month.

Some servants and concubines took this as an advantage to taint the queen's reputation by saying she had an affair with somebody. But the king doesn't believe any of the rumours at all. He had loved his queen since he was young, and she did as well. To him only the queen is his only wife but because he's the king of the country he has to accept other surrounding tribes, clans and countries, political marriages. All the concubines he had were just for peacekeeping. He never lay eyes on any of them at all or even spent a night in their chambers either. No other woman ever received any embrace from his majesty ever.

The only thing that matters to him right now is his dear queen's health. All servants were all in a frantic state. Everyone running in all directions, grabbing this and grabbing that. All the imperial midwives were summoned to the queen's chamber. The king was getting worried when one of the midwives came to report to him that the queen was having a hard time breathing and passed out.

The king was panicking, then he summoned all the imperial physicians to the palace. He orders them all to do what they have to keep the queen alive, even if it means that they have to sacrifice the baby. But to the queen, as a mother, she would rather die than sacrifice her baby's life to save her own. The queen was in labour almost one whole day, the king himself was pacing back and forth outside the chamber. He is afraid for her and can't do anything to help her take away the pain. The long agony of waiting for his queen is like someone slowly piercing his heart with a dagger. After a long while a loud cry came from the chamber, finally, the baby was born.

"Your Majesty, congratulations, it's a little princess. Both mother and daughter are safe." said the main imperial physician. When the king heard that he was in the greatest joy ever. He went into the chamber to take a look at his queen and the new little princess. He sat down beside his queen and the little princess.

"My dear queen thank you! You made me the luckiest man on earth. Hello, my little princess, I am your father." said in joy. "I am sorry my majesty I wasn't able to bear an heir for you." the queen sadly said. "I don't care if it's a son or daughter as long as you are safe and by my side forever. Son or daughter is still my child. Even if there wasn't a son to be the heir of my throne, my daughter can still be the ruler of my kingdom.

"What should we name her, my majesty?" the queen asks. "My queen, you love yueling flowers a lot and it is the season right now. So why don't we call her YueLing?" he replies.

"YueLing, Chen YueLing. It is a lovely name. My XiaoLingyi, you are the cutest." she said excitedly.

"From today forward, you are my Chen YueLing. My little princess, YueLing princess." the king excitedly announced in the chamber.

"All the servants in the chamber all kneel down to the ground. "Congratulations your majesty, congratulations my queen, we wish little princess thousands and thousands of years ahead of happiness and health." all the servants said.

In the King's harem, all the jealousy of the queen has all settled when the news of her unable to bear the King an heir. Now the concubines are all coming up with ways to seduce the king to gain power in the harem. Plans to kick the queen out of the game and take over the queen's throne themselves.

In West Palace, there is a concubine name, Lady Yang, Yang Meiqing. Daughter of Prime Minister Yang, Yang QingYun. To the queen, they were best friends as close as sisters when they were young. They both met the king when they were young and both fell in love with him at the same time. But the king only has his eyes on his queen only. Lady Yang hates the queen so much after she stole her lover. She wants her dead. Even though she was also married to the king after, the king had no interest in her at all. It was just another political marriage to keep the Prime Minister on his side.

For the last several months, she was conjuring an evil plan to get rid of that naive queen. The plan was originally supposed to take into effect in three months when the princess was supposedly to be born. She never expected an early birth. Since the queen was really weak after giving birth, she had decided to take action tonight. She sends a message to her trusted eunuch to take action immediately since everyone is too busy celebrating the birth of the little princess.

In the queen chamber, the royal couple was enjoying the happiness and joy with their baby girl. Then this moment was interrupted, when the king had received a message. He had to go deal with an urgent matter and left her side in a hurry. There were only a few maids left in the chamber to take care of the queen and princess. Soon she feels tired and as she requested for them to leave so she can rest. After not too long, for some reason all maids and guards outside the chamber had received an order that said to be from the king, for them to leave their post so the queen and princess could get some rest. Some of the maids found it strange when they heard the message, especially the queen's head maid. but who were they to disobey the king's order?

Later that night, a highly skilled swordsman trespassed in the chamber. He wanted to rape the queen to frame her for having an affair with other men. But before he could get close to the bed to do so, YueLing started crying very loudly, waking the queen up before the man could attack her. The frightened queen grabs her YueLing and makes a run for it. While she runs she keeps calling for help. "Someone help me! Guards, guards, guards help me. There is an assassin!!" she panted and kept running for her life with her baby in her arms.

Since the man failed to plan a, then he had to switch to plan b, murder the queen. He quickly tries to chase after her. The heavy storm still hasn't rested yet but gotten worse. In this kind of weather even with normal people, they would have a hard time getting around. Now that the queen is at her weakest state, she barely can run anymore. She ends up falling down and rolling on the floor, in the heavy storm getting all wet but still protecting her little princess with her arms and body.

Along the way she couldn't even spot any maids, eunuchs or guards anywhere. From her frantic running she ends up in a random place in the palace that she didn't know of. She stumbles upon a small palace that wasn't occupied and tries to hide inside. She was worrying and panting from her run, at the same time she had to keep the princess quiet, or the man would find them.

After hiding for a short while, it didn't matter where she hid the man still found her. "My beauty, why did you run? All I've wanted to spend one night with you. If you had just been a good girl and let me do what I wanted I would have let you both live. But now, it's too late! Now both of you must die. It's just a shame since you are such a beauty." said the man while he was about to slice his sword at the queen and the princess.

At that moment, the princess started to cry out so loud, somehow a barrier was created and when the sword touched them it just countered the attack. The man flew out the chamber's window creating a big commotion and attracted a lot of guards to the scene. The princess won't stop crying until her mom is safe back in the arms of her father.

The king runs in, to hug his queen and crying. "My queen, my queen are you okay?" he asks. "My majesty, I thought I was never able to see you again..." she sobs and pants. "My queen I shouldn't have left you. What happened here? How did that assassin fly out the window?" he asks curiously. "I don't know what happened, when he was about to kill me YueLing cried so loud and when the blade touched us like there was a force that hit him back," she said in confusion. "It doesn't matter anymore! As long as you are both safe, that's all it matters!" he said softly while comforting her. She soon later falls unconscious from everything. "Quickly call for the imperial physicians, HURRY!" he screams out. He quickly picks her up in his arms and takes her back to her chamber.

Meanwhile in the West Palace, Lady Yang was so mad that the attack failed. She throws her teacup down to the floor, smashing into millions of pieces. "Why did it fail? Now that we failed, there will be more guards to protect her!" she said in anger. "I'm sorry my lady, we will not fail you next time!" her head Lee Eunuch replies.
