Chapter 5 - On The Way

After breakfast, Donghua brings Fengjiu and Gungun back to Qingqiu. On the way, Gungun was curious about everything in the surrounding. As she never really saw these parts of the realms since she spends her entire life in the mortal realm. Fengjiu was also like a little child as well herself. While he was watching those two having fun, it seems like those two were having a competition of who is more childish. Donghua was very happy, seeing them have so much fun. As he continues walking from the back he has a strange feeling but he shrugs it off when he hears those two calling him. He quickly runs up to catch up with them.

Not long after, before reaching the fox den, Donghua scents a demon present, following them for a while. He turns around and sees a small black leopard demon spirit. He quickly draws out his Cang'he sword in the purple sparkling air... "Xiaobai, take Gungun and cloud jump to the fox den." he quickly commands her. "NO, I'm not going to leave you!" she shouted. "Xiaobai no time to fool around, GO!" he yelled at her.

He uses his power and pushes them really far away from him. They were almost a couple meters away from the den. He then sets up a safety barrier blocking them from getting back closer to him and blocking any other danger that heads their way.

Fengjiu keeps yelling his name "Donghua, Donghua, Donghua, Donghua." she's yelling so loud that her family in the den could hear and charge out.

"What's going on here?" her fourth uncle Bai Zhen askes while materializing in the air. Bai Zhi, Bai Yi, and Zhe Yan all appeared right after and all also asked "What's happening?" Bai Zhen then saw Fengjiu and ran towards her side "Xiaojiu what happened?" he asks while holding on to her arm.

Fengjiu replies "Fourth uncle, watch her for me!" She tires forcing herself through the barrier like it doesn't exist. But she gets forced back out, Zhe Yan catches her, "Xiaojiu be careful." "Donghua, Donghua" she keeps repeatedly screaming. She looks at Zhe Yan "Why can't I get through? If I could have got through to the starlight ward last time how come I can't get through this safety barrier?" she cries. "I don't know. But with his power he can handle that little demon with a finger." Zhe Yan answers quietly.

While they all can only watch from far, Donghua has the upper hand with the small black leopard demon spirit. As powerful as he is, he was able to dodge all the attacks that the demon has sent. To him this is just a child play and he got tired of this game already. When he sent back an attack the beast absorbed it and grew bigger. Each attack Donghua launches at it, it just keeps getting bigger. Soon it got so big that Donghua wasn't able to dodge one of the hits. He got sliced by its sharp claws on the left shoulder close to his heart.

As Fengjiu watches him get hurt, she cries even more... "Donghua, Donghua, let me come help you!" As he was crying there were more leopard demon spirits appearing surrounding Donghua and also the fox den. Gungun was getting scared by the second, hiding behind Zhenzhen.

Fengjiu bends down and holds on to Gungun's shoulder "Mother and Father is here, also mother's family is here as well, so don't be scared." she says. "Grandma, please take the little princess back into the den and seal it." she asks. "Yes my dear empress, go back into the den with the little one and seal it as she said." Bai Zhi commands. She quickly takes Gungun back to the den and seals it.

"What are we going to do?" she panicked. "We can't just be bystanders!" Bai Yi huffed. "They are continuing to multiply." Bai Zhen states. "Zhenzhen go to the Nine Heaven and get help from Qianqian and Yehua!" Zhe Yan commanded him. Zhenzhen vanishes in the second.

While a group of the smaller demons was keeping Donghua occupied the giant leopard demon jumps over to the barrier and starts attacking it, trying to break through it. ZheYan quickly reenforces Donghua's barrier, since they can't leave either. "The barrier is not going to last long if this demon keeps on getting bigger. We need to figure out a solution." Zhe Yan yells out while trying to hold the barrier.

In a blink of an eye there are over hundreds of the leopard demon spirits, most of them are no longer focusing on anyone outside the den anymore. A couple of dozen are forming another group trying to attack the fox den where Gungun and fox empress are.

"Daddy what should we do? " Fengjiu cries... while she cries her tears fall on to the ring that was made from half of Donghua's heart. The ring started to react with her tears... A few loud heartbeats express from the ring making the barrier stronger...

At this point there are over thousands of demons everywhere, some of them are now trying to run towards the village and attack the helpless villagers. In the flash of lightning then a crash of thunder hits the group of demons running towards the village. At this time Bai Qing, Yehua, Lian Song, Bai Zhen appeared bringing along ten thousand Celestial soldiers in a flash.

"Gugu, you finally come! Hurry protect the fox den, grandma and little princess are in there!" Fengjiu yells out. "One thousand soldiers go protect the fox den, another thousand soldiers go protect the villagers and the rest, fight off the demons" Yehua commands.

There was a strong force that pulled her out from the barrier. Once she left the barrier the large leopard demon all tried to attack her. She was able to dodge all the attacks while running towards Donghua. Everyone else was able to leave the barrier right after Fengjiu went through it. Now everyone is fighting off the demons. No matter how hard everyone is fighting the demons it just keeps multiplying. No matter how hard Fengjiu tries to fight her way to Donghua it just feels like he keeps getting dragged further and further away from her.

"Yehua! For some reason the demons don't die at all!" she annoyingly said while backing but to Yeahua. "Whatever attack we launch at them they just absorb it all and either get stronger or multiply!" he replies in frustration.

Fengjiu was getting impatient, she transformed into her fox form. In her fox form she was able to dodge all the attacks and reach Donghua in no time. "Donghua!" she let out while trying to recover her breath from all the running and dodging. He backs up to her and she changes back to her human form. While he defended against all the attacking demons. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO STAY INSIDE THE BARRIER!" he rages at her. "Did...you think... I can just... sit tight.... and watch you get... hurt like this?" she replies panting. Both of them continued to fight and dodge all the Demons. "Why are these things not dying at all?" she asks Donghua. "I don't know these beasts are just... argggg...." as he gets annoyed with all this matter.

"It was supposed to be a happy day where her family was able to see her again and for them to meet their new family member; Gungun. But why? Why is there always a stupid problem? Is this fate again? I don't understand why this one small leopard demon spirit that I can normally handle with no ease at all just turns into this chaos... WHY?" he thought to himself.

While he was thinking of all the matter he didn't realize that one beast took advantage and tried to strike him. Fengjiu saw it coming and quickly hugged him and shielded the attack with her back."Aaahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa' she screamed so loud that the whole land could hear her.

Meanwhile in the fox den, Gungun was very scared and the fox empress was holding her tightly, sitting on her lap. "My dear little princess, don't be afraid I will protect you, no one can harm you here, I promise." she said with care, while Gungun nested her head in her chest. All of a sudden a loud scream came from outside the den. Gungun quickly recognized that the voice of that sound belongs to her mother. She jumps out of the empress lap, runs towards the doorway and cries out "Mother, mother, mother!" as tears rush outs her eyes. As she and the old empress watch from far, far away they both can't do anything but cry and pray to the sky that all of them are alright.

"XIAOBAI!" Donghua turns to realize she got hurt, again. He catches her before she falls to the ground and creates a barrier. He holds her sitting up and he hugs her. "Why didn't you listen to me? Why? I failed to protect you again!" he sobs. Fengjiu creases his face with her hand and looks into his eyes. "I'm fine, as long as you're okay, I'm happy." she weakly said.

The main leopard demon spirit was able to smell Fengjiu fear from her blood that spilled down from her wounds. All the demons all changed their forms into all sorts of serpents and the main one changed into Basilisk, a king of all serpent. "What a pity HAHAHAHAHA, The Queen of Qingqiu is afraid of serpents HAHAHAHAHA!", the Basilisk roars.
