Chapter 25 - Day 2

After YueLing happily skipped away from the three ladies she tried looking for LiTing but she got lost. She didn't even remember where she was since she didn't pay attention earlier. She starts to wander around, anyone that is dressed in the same color, or the same height as LiTing, or anything that resembles LiTing, she would stop them. But all of them just think she is crazy for acting like that. She just can remember how she got to where she is at all.

When LiTing won the poetry contest he was so happy with the beautiful lantern in his hand. But when he turned around he realized she was not with him anymore. He panicked and started searching for her all over. Anyone that is dressed in the same color, or the same height as YueLing or anything that resembles YueLing, he would stop them. All the girls think he is a crazy pervert. He blames himself for not paying attention to her instead of the contest. He was so worried that something might have happened to her.

YueLing was scared since she was left alone in a place that she never been to before. She blames herself for walking off without saying anything. She just gave away all her valuables, so she doesn't even have anything on her to offer to others to get help or shelter. She felt so defeated and just sat down on the steps of the local authority. She knows this is a safer place to stay than any other random place. She knows he will be able to find her soon. She watches the streets get quieter while people are already retiring home for the night. The street is empty now and she still sits in the same spot waiting for him to find her.

LiTing walked all over and he finally reached the local authority, and he sees her crouched down on the steps. She has her knees tucked against her chest with the side of her face leaning against it. He ran over to her as fast as he could. "Xiaoyue!" he screams out loud. Upon hearing her name she quickly jots her head up looking in the direction of the voice. "Gege!" she screams out while she gets up and runs towards his embrace.

"Where did you go! I was scared to death when I turned around to show you the lantern that I won... and I couldn't find you." he whispers into her ears. "I got lost. I heard some ladies talking about something and I followed them to find out where to get it." she explains softly. "What is it possible that got you so intrigued in it that you can't ask me to get it for you? You know whatever you want, I will give you." he continues softly whispers into her ear.

"Let's go home and I will show you! It's something for us both." she happily says while tilting her head to look at his face. "Okay let's go back now." he says while grabbing a hold of her hand and leads the way. "Gege, where is the lantern that you won?" she curiously asks. "When I went crazy looking for you, people thought I was a pervert and we got into a fight and it was broken then..." he sadly says. "Gege, it's okay! Don't be sad about it. It was my fault that I walked off and it broke." she regretfully replies. "I will get you another next time!" he happily replies back to her with the sweetest smile.

When they got to the palace's gates they were greeted by the guards politely. After this morning, the gossip has already spread throughout the guards, servants and maids. This set of guards were on extract cautions no to get her mad. She starts leading the way to the garden because she wants to have her sweet potatoes. LiTing already knows that she misses her favourite. Once they got into the garden he headed towards the garden patch to dig up some and start roasting them. YueLing just sits over at the swing and happily giggles at the thought of them learning what to do like true lovers in the book later. She is so eager to look through the book. But not without him of course.

"What are you gigging about?" he asks when he walks over with the sweet potatoes. "Umm.. nothing! Just looking at you already makes me really happy." she joyfully says. "I know you're hiding something from me. Here start eating this, it's getting late." he says while passing to her freshly hot sweet potatoes. She joyfully starts eating while he starts slowly pushing her on the swing. "Xiaoyue, don't you ever leave my side without saying anything to me. You really scared me back there. If I've lost you I would have gone mad. I will break into every home and shop just to look for you. I will lose all my reasoning and won't be able to think straight ever again." he softly says from her back. "Umm... I'm... sorry! I promise... you, I won't leave... you again... without letting... you know." she replies with her mouth full.
