Chapter 20 - 16th Birthday Afternoon Of Truth

When Feng'er ran out of the imperial garden after confessing, he didn't want to hear her answer to it. Since he already knows that she only treats him as an older brother than a lover. To him, it feels like he was already rejected twice for some weird reason but he only ever confessed his feelings once to a girl this whole life time.

The day that he was born was also a stormy night, two years before YueLing was born. Ever since that day, he saw her at the imperial hunting grounds and he only had eyes for her. Whenever they play together he always lets her win. There are times, where she likes to play pranks on her teachers and other children in the classroom. She gets bored very easily since she is much smarter than the teachers and the other children often offends her.

When she gets exposed after the pranks he often takes the blame for her. Not like any of the teachers would ever punish the only beloved princess of the kingdom. He would often be punished by the teachers and his father would be harsh on him after. Whenever he sees someone that tries to bully her, he will fight them back. He also wants to protect her with his life. But never seems to get the same affection that LiTing gets from her.

He often has dreams where he sees her there. He would be sitting in a restaurant, drinking and chatting with a friend. The surrounding was pretty exciting and there was performance in the middle of the market. A boy somehow stumbled into the performance and was about to get injured. When YueLing was dressed all in white with her face covered, she came out and saved him. She was young, brave and kind in his dream but not as mischief in real life reality. But when he got older the same dream extended.

In the second part of his dream, she shows up in front of his home. To him it seems like they were arguing about something and she was about to leave. He took out his sword and YueLing jumps over to attack first. In her eyes he can see her determination to win and end something.

He thought he probably had offended her in some way because she was using full forces in attacking him. Everything in the surrounding was destroyed from her attacks. Before there was the result of the fight he would wake up frightened by the thought that he had hurt her. Even though it's a dream it felt so real to him that it had happened before.

He can't understand why he often gets this dream but today he was afraid that this dream will come to life after he had confessed his feelings to her. That is why he ran away right after, so if she decided to attack him he wouldn't be able to hurt her like in his dreams. But the truth is that he never saw what happened at the end of the dream, so a part of him still had hope.

As of now he didn't know what to do so he decided to go to the imperial classroom to focus on his study, so he can forget what just happened. But on his way out he saw his cousin making his way to the garden as well. In his mind;

"Why is he going there? Is he also thinking of confessing to her as well? I mean I know he likes her too... but does she like him too? Or does she also treat him as an older brother as well? He's my brother as well but I love her as well! What should I do?" as he was thinking he just slowly walked away with feelings all over the place.

When LiMeng left the imperial garden he was sad that she didn't treat him as a lover but he was happy that she will still treat him as a good friend and older brother. This feeling to him is better than not being able to see her at all. At least now, this secret is off his heart he can finally let it go and move on. He already had a feeling that she won't like him the way that he wanted but still worth a try like what she said.

LiMeng was a very unfortunate boy, the day that he was born his mother died giving birth to him with a massive blood loss. Few days after his father died on the battlefield when he was serving his country. This happened a few years before Feng'er and YueLing was born. Everyone says that ever since YueLing was born, she brought peace to the whole kingdom. LiMeng ended up being taken care of by his aunt until his uncle returned from the battlefield. They treated him as their own son and pity him for losing both of his parents at the same time.
