I open my computer during study hall and see that I have an email from the WSYL morning news show. That must be their answer about the internship!
"You look excited." Emme says as she sits behind me.
"I got an email from WSYL." I say excitedly.
"Well open it!" Emme says, a small smile on her face.
"Right now?" I ask. She nods. I take a deep breath and open the email. It says Congratulations on being accepted in this summer's Highschool Internship program, we look forward to looking with you soon! "I got in!"
"That's awesome Mark!" Emme says, smiling. "Looks like we will both be busy this summer."
"Yeah, looks like it. Hopefully this internship will help me see if I really want to work in the film industry or something in that area." I say.
"I do too. If not, then you will know at least know that you don't want to do film, and cross that off the list." Emme says reassuringly.
"Yeah, that's true. It that what you're hoping with the architecture program too?"
"Yeah, I should at least know I really want to do it before applying to one of the most competitive programs at Tech."
"Is Tech that competitive? I knew their engineering program was, but I don't know much about their other programs."
"Their architecture program is the 4th best in the nation and has a pretty low acceptance rate compared to other programs there."
"Wow. When does your camp start?"
"First week of July till the first week of August. What about your internship?"
"It is the rest of June to the end of July."
"Wow. Well, I'll let you study for exams. My least favorite time of the school year." Emme says and chuckles.
"Yeah, good luck on all of yours." I say and turn back to my computer. "Oh wait, I forgot to ask you a question."
"Yeah?" Emme says, looking up from her book.
"I know the last time I invited you to a party it turned out horribly, but are you going to the Lake Anna Party at the end of the week?"
"Yes, actually. That is a party I will go to." Emme says, grinning.
"Oh really?"
"Well, yeah. This party doesn't have a bunch of drunk unsupervised teenagers. This is a party all about having fun because school is out."
"That's true. I'll see you there then." I say and smile. Emme smiles back. I tun back to my computer to finish studying before my first exam.

"Last regular band class before exams." I say sadly.
"I know." Rylee says, standing next to me against the back wall. "We still have graduation tomorrow though."
"This will be my first graduation, actually." I say.
"Get ready to be very, very bored." Rylee says and chuckles.
"Is it that bad?"
"It's not great. It's a lot of fun at the beginning, but then when all the graduates walk on the stage it can get a little long."
"Yeah, I can imagine" I say.
"Are you looking forward to Marching Band?" Rylee asks, changing the subject.
