"Did we go to school together? I swear we had chemistry!"

"...mum, can I go play?" You asked while swinging your legs in excitement.

However, your mother didn't answer as she stared blankly at the floor in front of her.

She had been like this recently- well, ever since your father became sick.

She had been emotionless and very hopeless.

Sometimes, she'd forget that she wasn't alone and just stand there while you held on to her hand.

Of course, you didn't understand why.

She always told you that your father would get better soon and that everything will be okay.

So, why didn't she show it?

After hearing no response, you took matters in to your own hands and slid off the tall chair before running over to where the kids were.

"Hey! Can I play?"

"Yeah! Do you want to be the fairy?" And just like that, you began a temporary friendship within the hospital playroom.

"Mr. Gon?"

"Come, sweetie!" One of the children bid their farewells as they ran off to their dad.

This kept going until you were the only one left.

Playing on your own didn't sound so fun.

Looking around, you realised that the room was empty with the exception of your mother who still didn't move from before.

You were feeling a little thirsty after playing and you didn't hesitate to run over to your mum.

"I'm thirsty!" Your cute squeaky voice yelled out but there was no reaction at all.

Frowning at this, you shook her to get her attention.

"Mum! I'm thirsty!" Her eyes were very dark and not filled with joy like they used to but, she was your mother. She was the only one you could trust with your whole heart.

Her behaviour was scaring you and you could feel your eyes prickling with tears.

"M-Mum?"

"Hey, little girl. Are you thirsty?" A man's voice caught your attention, making you turn to see a middle aged male with an overgrown beard and a few missing teeth in his wicked smile.
