"You must be the one for me, since my selectively permeable membrane let you through!"

"Should I stop?" Taehyung asked after gesturing to the defibrillators he was holding that were now charged up.
The surgery room was still in havoc mode as everyone rushed to save the twins the best that they could. Everything was on the line here and chances that this surgery becoming successful was even more slim than before.
Even Namjoon was having trouble in figuring what the problem was. He had came up with the perfect surgery to save them both, a pacemaker that would regulate their heart beats and wouldn't need to depend on each other anymore.
Yoongi was also lost as to why everything went downhill and he only blamed himself for not holding your hand and dragging you here himself to tell him what was wrong.
The investors at top didn't understand what was going on but they knew that it wasn't good.
"Bring it over, Doctor Kim" Hoseok gestured for him to pass over the defibrillators since he knew how to use them. Namjoon stepped back to allow his fellow doctor to apply the shock on the twin beside him and after a few seconds, he looked over to the nurse who was prepares to turn on the defibrillators.
"Now" the nurse nodded and turned on the machine which sent an electrical current to the defibrillators, thus making the body jolt from the shock.
Everyone looked over to the heart monitors to see that the heart stopped momentarily before returning back to normal. Until it began to slow down again like last time.
"Damn it..." Yoongi cursed under his mask while still pumping the heart in the chest. Everyone looked a little lost as they tried to figure out what was the problem – even Taehyung.
His eyes were drawn to both heart monitors that were attached to each twin and it wasn't long for him to start analysing.
Both BPMs were decreasing at a constant pace and it wouldn't be long until they reach zero. Furrowing his brows, he noticed something peculiar about both heart beats as they were shown next to one another.
"...Chief Kim! Can I try something?" Everyone looked over to the new member of the surgical team with surprised faces. Although curious, Yoongi wasn't going to let an amateur make things worse.
"Doctor Kim, this isn't a time to be trying something! This is a real surgery, not a practice run! It doesn't matter anyway, we'll know what's wrong when Doctor L/N gets here-"
"I approve" Namjoon intercepted, gesturing for Taehyung to come over and take over. His expression was calm whilst Taehyung was thrilled to be given the chance. It was as if the whole room was completely out of the mix, feeling like they had missed something.
"What?! Chief Kim, we can't just let him-"
"Are you going against my decision?" That had shut Doctor Min right up as he knew his place against his boss. Taehyung was still amazed that Chief Kim had given him a chance and after shaking out of his daze, he quickly made his way over to the twin in front of Namjoon.
"I've noticed something while looking at the heart monitor" he began, "the heart rates were going down at a constant rate but they were the opposite of one another. One would pump while the other didn't until it would alternate between the two. The first surgery failed since they depended on each others heart to pump the blood to each other but now that they are separated, the hearts have nothing to depend on. So we need to fool them in to thinking that they're still connected" Taehyung finished while messing around with the pacemaker to change its rhythm to be the opposite of what it was before.
"Fool them? You mean the hearts? Tch, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!" It didn't make sense to Yoongi at all, hearts didn't have brains so how was he supposed to fool them?
Taehyung continued to mess around with the pacemaker until he finally found a good rhythm for the heart to feel.
"By making the hearts feel a fake heart beat in the body" he stated simply before looking up at the heart monitor to see if the were any changes.
Hoseok had been watching by silently but he soon found himself in awe at Taehyung’s smart idea.
"...I think his idea might work"
"So do I" Chief Kim added, reassuring Taehyung to continue as everyone looked over at the heart monitor together.
The heart rate was still going down but, at a much slower pace until it finally stopped. Everyone watched in anticipation, wanting to see the plan work and for this surgery to finally have a good chance at salvaging.
Would it work?
"...BPM increasing!"
You bet it did.
Now grinning from ear to ear, Taehyung had a sense of relief and pride that his plan worked before feeling a hand on his shoulder.
"You did it, Tae!" Hoseok yelled gleefully before leaving to go help with the other twin and doing the same thing.
"Nice work" Namjoon briefly added with relief in his tone before returning back to closing up the body.
The junior doctor felt his cheeks redden from the amount of praise he had received, finally feeling like his work had paid off now that he was in the surgery room and saving lives.
He felt so happy.
"...sorry for doubting you...Great job" Yoongi apologised from across the room while helping Hoseok change the pacemaker on the other twin. Thankfully, he didn't need to worry about you not being here to help but perhaps it was for the better now that Taehyung had come up with such a good solution.
"Alright everyone, let's get these bodies closed up"
"Yes, Chief!"
