"Sorry... maybe I shouldn't have taken you to such a place" Jungkook scratched the back of his neck bashfully as he walked alongside you on the empty road.
After eating, you stated to the young officer that you needed to go home. The thought of your mother being alone around this time of the night wondering where you were worried you.
It was currently 7PM and the sun had set ages ago. The air was chilly and you had regretted not bringing your coat. After all, you thought you would be home by 6PM.
"Its okay, it was cool to see that a place such as that existed. Not to mention it opened my mind to ex-convicts"
Perhaps they weren't as scary as everyone thought they would be.
The older smiled in relief.
"Really? That's good to hear... did you have a doctor's appointment today?" Confused, you looked over at the male while still walking along the concrete path towards the main road.
"Appointment?"
"It's just that I didn't see you this morning working at the cafe... I was worried you were sick or something bad had happened" that's right. You no longer worked at the cafe but the officer didn't know that. What should you do? Explain everything to him? No way, he would definitely not believe you and even if he did, you would be in a lot of trouble.
"I... was actually at a job interview at the hospital"
"Job interview?"
"Yeah, I found a better paying job at the hospital and they're giving me a trial week" you explained with ease. Technically, you weren't lying but at the same time you weren't telling the whole truth.
For some reason, his lips curled into a frown.
"O-Oh... so you won't be working at the cafe no more?" You nodded solemnly.
"Yeah it seems so... I'm going to miss hearing your stories of you taking down criminals" you admitted.
"...then how about I give you my number? That way you can still hear my stories and we can meet up like this again" he was proud of himself to to have thought of such a good idea on the spot. You didn't see any harm by it and decided to take your phone out from your bag.
"Sure" you exchanged phone numbers before carrying on your way out to where Jungkook's car was parked and waiting for you two.
"Erm, I didn't want to bring it up but...are you alright after the whole... you know...shooting at the cafe?" He had remembered how shaken up you were about it and he had hoped you hadn't been traumatised by it.
Reminding yourself of the immense red glow that filled your vision, it brought back memories of your father and instantly your mood sullened.
"...yeah, I'm fine. Nothing compared to those who got shot that day..." thankfully, the news said that no one had died and the Asclepius hospital did an amazing job at saving them. Your heart grew at the thought that you were able to also save one of their patients that day. It only made you realise more why you wanted to help people so much.
"Officer Jeon? Can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, of course" his mind was filled with many possibilities of questions that you might ask him. There was one he had hoped you would ask.
"What made you realise to become a police officer?" Taken aback, Jungkook looked over to see that you were serious.
"...I wanted people to feel safe in their home, in their only place of solace...I wanted people to go out and feel safe in their own neighbourhood... I wanted to make them feel that way" he answered from his heart, making you awe at his response and you felt somewhat encouraged.
"...that's really amazing, Officer Jeon"
"Please, just call me Jungkook when I'm off duty" he pleaded before sending a pout your way.
His cute expression made you chuckle before nodding in defeat.
