Ruby's pov
The bell went off and Bobby said
" let's go we got someone by the Hollywood sign "
" a jumper "
I said
" probably "
We got in and made our way there. When we got there it was a guy and a kid I turned to Eddie and said
" How are we going to do this one "
" I don't know they just had to choose the H "
We all looked up the guy looked like he was about 27 or 28 and the kid was about 5. All of a sudden he pushed the kid off we both ran over and caught him. I and Eddie just looked at each other and I said
" just another day on the job right "
He laughed
" ok well I'm going up "
I looked at Bobby and he nodded. When I got up to the top it's was strange because Buck wasn't there for back up, in fact, no one was
" hi "
I said and the man looked at me
" what "
" is it what because I'm a woman or a what because someone cares "
He didn't respond
" can you tell me what's got you up here today with him "
I pointed at the boy when was looking down at him I sat down and he looked at me like I was crazy but he said
" I can't I'm not going to make it "
" acting "
He nodded and sat down and I said
" well we never know what tomorrow holds right so tomorrow could be the best day or the worst but you know what I know you're brave enough to make it to tomorrow to the next hour because we don't know when our whole life can change now can we get down the view is beautiful but I think I've seen enough of it "
I got up and put my hand out and he took it and we made our way back down. As soon as his feet hit the ground his phone started to ring and after a moment he said
" I got a callback "
" see we never know what the future holds "

On the way back to station Areo said
" ok I know you're the one that handles these calls but how do you how do you get them back on the ground "
" a different perspective helps you feel less alone "
We didn't really talk the rest of the way back. As soon as we pulled in the bell went off and after a moment Bobby said
" ok well we have a high school that's on fire and it sounds like it started in a lab "
We got ready and left and sure enough, when we got there the science building was engulfed in flames. I started to walk to the building when Bobby said
" Areo and umm Eddie go in Two help them with the hose "
I just looked at him then went to help them with the hose. We got the fire out and there were two people inside. When we got back my side hurt I must have twisted wrong I got an ice pack and sat down on the couch
" Two "
" yeah "
I got up
" I'm going to let you go early today "
" what "
" I don't want you to overdo it your first day back and it seems like we have a lot of harder calls today "
" what "
" go home be with Jake and Buck "
I gave up and clocked out and I didn't even bother changing. It was an odd time so I decided to stop and get food. They had the drive-through blocked off so I went in
" hi umm can I get a number 5 with umm a medium drink "
I looked away from the board and the guy was just staring at me not moving
" hello "
I waved my hand in front of him. A man walked over to him
" you good man "
" she's an angel "

I said and finally, he said
" you probably don't remember me "
" hold on umm you were um on your moms' roof you were going to jump because you were failing your classes your names Miles right "
He looked down and he didn't have a name tags on
" yeah that was what 5 months ago tell me did you get them back up your grades I mean "
" yeah umm I actually did because of you "
" oh please I just said some words "

" well I'm happy that you're doing good now Miles ok so how much "
The guy that I'm guessing is the manager said
" oh it's on us "
" oh are you sure "
