With people back in school calls decreased about dumb stuff like kids getting lost or stuck in park and things like that. It's been a couple of months we were playing a video game when the bell went off it was for a building that collapsed from the earthquake that hit earlier in the morning
" oh theres kids "
" Ember "
She ran down the stairs and jumped in. When we got there there were small fires that were easy to put out
" ok guys this is Ember you can pet her ok "
" ok "
It was about five kids and they just stood there and pet her
" Two "
Bobby said
" ok be good "
I said to her and walked over to them
" what's up "
" We have two kids stuck in there "
" ok well just "
" there's only one way to get them out and it's a small hole "
" and I'm the only one that can do it "
He nodded
" How stable is it "
Buck gave me a look that said not vary
" ok yeah I got this "
I took off my jacket and readjust things and I started to crawl through the small tunnel that's was a few feet long. When I got to a spot that I thought I could stand I called out and I was able to figure out where they were. I found them in a pocket that's was made by a plastic castle things
" well this is a cool place but how about we go on a new adventure "
They nodded two stepped out and then there was a baby
" umm cap you said there were two "
" yes why "
" there's a baby in here as well "
" ok can you get them out "
" yes "
I looked at them and said
" ok kids should we go now "
I picked up the baby and I led them to the tunnel. As we were going I could feel it starting to shake
" go faster as fast as you can ok "
" ok "
They got out and I was almost to the opening they took the baby and just as I was about to be crushed they pulled me out. I looked around and I didn't see Ember and the kids were looking at the pile of rubble I looked at Buck and he knew what I was thinking
" Ember ... Ember "
Nothing I started to cry my voice was shaking
" Ember where are you girl ... Ember "
Nothing then I whispered it and I could hear whining. I ran over to where I thought it was coming from and I started to move things and throw things that my adrenaline decided was in my way no matter how much it weighed and soon I got to her
" Ember "
She looked up at me then back down
" come on "
She got up and she was covering a mama cat and her three kittens. I noticed Ember was holding her paw up then I saw that she broke her front right leg. The owner of the cat came over and got them and I picked up Ember and went back to the crew
" her leg is broken and I don't know what else "
" ok ok well you two take the SUV "
Bobby gave us the keys and we got in the SUV and sped to the animal ER. When we got there the woman behind the desk was confused
" hello umm my dog here broke her leg in a building collapse "
" ok take a seat "
" ok "
After a few minutes, they took her back and we filled out paperwork then headed back to the station because they said it would take a while to get everything checked out. When we got back I took a shower because I was covered in dust and other things. It was quite than 5 rolled around and I got a call from the vet
" hello is this Ruby Buckley "
" yes "
I put it on speaker
" ok so her test results and she's healthy other than her broken leg which will take 8 weeks to give or take to be fully healed "
" ok "
" so light work for her at the station "
We all laughed a little
" thank you "
" now problem thank you "
When we got home we had to tell Jake to just be careful with her for a while and it was hard but the 8 weeks passed and she acted as nothing eve happened just like her mom I guess.
