Chapter 8

Mingyu POV

"How far are we?" Minghao asked and I just answered him, "We'll reach Odemore in three hours."

I heard Woozi hyung groaned, "I can't wait to sleep." "You and you sleep, hyung." Minghao chuckled and I joined him.

"What's the first thing you're going to do once we reach Odemore, Mingyu?" Minghao asked me.

"We are going to the palace first. We have something from the Hwayangyeonhwa kingdom right? And we need to deliver them to Seunggyo as soon as we can." I told them. "Damn! Can we not?" Woozi hyung groaned again. Of course I would say no. We have a very important thing to tell them.

"Do you trust them, Mingyu?" I could feel a stare from Woozi hyung. I let out a sigh, "I don't know Woozi hyung. But they look serious about wanting to be our ally."

"Serious? Yeah, they are serious except for that grumpy fella."

"Woozi hyung, you probably didn't know this but you and that fella somehow look a lot like each other." Minghoa said and I smiled when I heard that. They indeed look alike.

Woozi hyung scoffed, "Me and him? Look alike? Not even close!"

Me and Minghao bursted out in laughter.

Just then we heard a soft cry. I pulled the horse into a stop and so did the others. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who hears that." I whispered. "No, I heard it too." Woozi looked around. He already has his ice sword in his hand, just to be prepared. Minghao already sent his shadow eagles up in the air to look around.

"Move forward." I gave orders to them and they followed after.

Just then Minghao's shadow eagle returned with a news.

"It's a girl. In front of us. No threat." Minghao reported. "Let's go." Woozi was the first to lead.

Upon reaching the place, we could see a female near the bush, crying.

"Hey, are you okay?" Minghao asked as he got down from the horse and nestled her. She looked up at him. From a distance, I could see that she's hurt.

"Who are you? Where are you from? Why are you out here?" Woozi hyung shot her with questions.

The girl's cry died down and now is more to a sob. "I-I'm Eun Hui...I'm from Hwayangyeonhwa. Th-They...they kicked me out from the country."

I raised an eyebrow, "Hwayangyeonhwa? For what reason they kicked you out?" I mean, we do hate people from Hwayangyeonhwa but maybe this girl did something that is unforgivable for them to kick her out like this-

"I was trying to feed myself. I-... I had to steal. I don't have money..." she sobbed.

"What about your family?" Minghao asked. "They were killed by the Hwayangyeonhwa soldiers for trying to find food and shelter for me." She started to cry again.

How can they be so cruel??

Oh! I forgot. This is Hwayangyeonhwa we're talking about. Of course they are heartless.

The lady then looked up and stared directly into my eyes.

Her beautiful pair of eyes are mesmerising. The orbs seem like pulling you in. Something inside me kicked in.

"Do you want to come with us?" I did an unexpected thing.

Woozi hyung and Minghao looked at me as if I grew another head.

"Yah Kim Mingyu!"

"Mingyu, we can't just bring someone we don't know back with us."

"Do you expect me to leave her here?" I narrowed my eyes at them.

"Don't mind me, gentlemen. Carry on with your journey. I'll be fine." The lady said.

I shook my head, "There's no way you will be okay out here alone. Come with us."

"Mingyu-"

"I'll take responsibility of my own action, Woozi hyung. Mark my words."

"If you say so, Kim Mingyu." I heard him letting out a sigh. With that I helped the lady to get on my horse while I walked on my feet and we continued our journey back to Odemore..

I turned slightly to look at her, "So...your name is Eun Hui?" "Yes, sire." she bowed her head. "Please, just call me Mingyu. I'm not a nobleman." I gave her a smile.

She nodded sheepishly.

Cute.

Someone cleared his throat, "We are still here or do you forget about it?" Woozi spoke. "Jealous much hyung?" I smirked.

"Jealous my ass! You know well, we shouldn't bring home someone to Odemore, especially if that person is from Hwayangyeonhwa."

"Woozi hyung, I think you should apologise to her-"

"No, sire. It's okay. I totally understand it. If I were in his shoes, I will not take someone who's from Hwayangyeonhwa with me, knowing that Odemore and Hwayangyeonhwa are not in a good relationship." I can see Eun Hui was a bit disappointed. Probably Woozi hyung's words hurt her. I mean, I would too.

I looked at Woozi hyung, "Hyung you should really apologise to her. That's plain rude." "I don't care, Kim Mingyu!" Woozi hyung scoffed back at me before he decided to ride quite a distance in front of me.

Minghao sighed, "I'll keep him accompany." with that Minghao too rode along with Woozi hyung, leaving me and Eun Hui alone.
