Haneul's POV
"Anything weird happens when I'm not around?' I was asking Maid Han since I specifically asked her to stay by Seunggyo's side. She shook her head, "No My Lady. Eun Hui was here a few hours after the attack. But I didn't let her. And she just left." Maid Han told me.
"What about yesterday?"
Maid Han nodded, "She was here as well, with His Highness's medicine. This time it was your daughter who didn't let her in."
I frowned, "Gaeul?" "Bomi, my lady. She was crying out loud, calling her evil. She pleaded with me not to let Eun Hui in." Maid Han told me.
I tapped my chin. "Well, for now I know Gaeul can control poison. But Bomi..." "Maybe it's a hunch. An innocent child couldn't tell a lie." Maid Han suggested. "Could be." I nodded.
"Another thing that you should know my lady. Gaeul is the one who told me about the poison. She told me she could smell the poison inside the King's body. So she rushed me to make the remedy for the poison. Amazingly, it works, fast!"
I nodded when she told me that. Guess poison really is her power.
"Now I need you to listen to me carefully. I will take care of Eun Hui. I don't know how but I will. And I need you to help me with this. If anything happens when I'm not around, please look after my kids. And whatever you do, do not look into her eyes." I reminded her. "You're the only one I trust here. She succeeded in making Seunggyo listen to her and I'm not surprised she can do the same to Seungcheol oppa, or the others. I suspected that she used the same trick on Mingyu oppa when they first picked her." I sighed.
Maid Han took my hand. "Don't worry My Lady. I swear on my own life that I won't leave you to fight this alone. I will do everything that I could to help you. Trust me, My Lady."
I nodded. "I believe in you." I gave her a small smile. "Now I need to warn the others about this. Tell my husband I'm going to talk to the others."
Maid Han bowed at me. "Take care, My Lady." "Likewise, Maid Han." I nodded at her before I walked away.
The first person I'm planning to meet is obviously my brother. So I didn't waste any time and straight away went to this study room here in the palace. Seunggyo is kind enough to provide room for each of them in the palace and they all are placed at the same wing, which right now, eases my work. I can find them all at once.
Before going to Mingyu's room, I decided to go to the first room, which is Joshua's room. "Joshua oppa?"
"Haneul!" Judging from the way he smiled at me, he was delighted to see me. "Is everything okay?" I walked into the room, asking him the question. He nodded eagerly, "I'm good, Haneul. Just busy helping everyone else restore the palace." He added.
So I took a seat in front of him. "Actually I need to talk with you about something. It's about Eun Hui." "Eun Hui? What's with her?" Joshua was frowning at her statement. "Remember when I told everyone that it was not Hwayangyeonhwa who attacked us? Well, I mean what I said." I told him, hoping that he would at least listen to me now.
Joshua shook his head, "I don't believe in you Haneul."
And now it's time for me to frown. "And why is that?" "Who else would attack us if it's not Hwayangyeonhwa?" he asked me back. "What if I say it was Eun Hui?" I raised an eyebrow.
Joshua let out a laugh and I don't like that. No even a bit. "Seriously, Haneul? Eun Hui? She's the sweetest girl everyone could have. She couldn't even kill an ant! And now you're telling me it was her that attacked us? Come on, Haneul. You're just jealous of her aren't you?"
What?
I was beyond hurt when the words came from him. Joshua is the kindest and the most gentle out of all of them and everyone knows it and yet, he hurt me this much with his words. "I am not jealous, Joshua oppa! Why would I-" "Because we're spending more time in the palace since she's here? Because she caught our attention? Because she's the sweetest girl now?" Joshua looked at me intently.
"Oppa-"
"Stop being such a toxic person, Haneul. Be mature. You're not a little kid anymore. You're a mother of three now." Joshua said without any hesitation.
I felt like someone just grabbed my throat and tightly squeezed it. That's how suffocating I am right now.
I had enough of this!
So I stood up, "I know that!" as I slammed my hands on his table. "Tell me. Did she come to see you these few days?" I eyed him.
"It's none of your business because we only talk about how to restore the peace in the palace while you're out there backstabbing us with Hwanyangyeonhwa." Joshua was talking to me in anger and....disgust?
I tried my best to hold in my tears. I wanted to cry so badly. I want to. But I knew it was no use. Joshua oppa was saying all those things because Eun Hui made him to. "If you hate me that much, just tell me so I can bring myself out of your sight!" with that I stormed out from his room.
Third Person POV
She was hoping that Joshua was the only one Eun Hui had encountered but she was wrong. She was totally wrong. She now knows things are getting more complicated than what she expected.
It turned out that Eun Hui had already brain washed them, making them believe that Haneul is the bad person in the picture. She was the one who back stabbed her. For her record, only S.Coups, Woozi and Mingyu were left. And she hasn't gone to him yet. She didn't know what to expect.
She's shaking inside. No, not because of fear. But because she was hurt. How much the people she loves hurt her badly.
"Oppa?" I opened the door to Mingyu oppa's room. "Haneul? You just got back?" He was there, at his desk. "Yup. Just reached here." I took a seat in front of him. "So how's everything?" He asked. "Well, I told you they're not the one who attacked us. So that's everything." I told him. "I just don't understand. I clearly heard the guards say it was Hwayangyeonhwa." I noticed a frown on Mingyu oppa's
"Uhm, what if I told you Eun Hui is the one behind the attack last few days." Haneul said.
"Nonsense! How can she-" "Okay, never mind! You don't have to continue. I know what you want to say. I'm immature, stop being jealous, stop being toxic, she's the sweetest one here! I know that!" Haneul shouted at him.
Mingyu was swept in anger at once. He stood up. "What the hell is wrong with you, Haneul? Why are you yelling at me out of the sudden?!"
"I was hoping that you at least would believe me!! Out of everyone, I'm counting on you. You're my brother! You're my family!" Haneul pressed her lips into thin lines. "I trust you." She added.
Mingyu sighed, "Haneul, I'm tired of this shit. If you don't have anything else to say, can you please leave?"
Haneul felt broken when she heard her own brother say such things towards her. "If that's what you want..." Haneul obediently went out from the room.
