Third Person POV
13 men entered the meeting space followed by 7 other men from Hwayangyeonhwa. Some ministers joined them a moment after that. A few minutes after that, the king finally showed himself.
S.Coups quickly got up and helped Seunggyo. "Gyo, I told you it's okay if you can't come." S.Coups looked at him worriedly. Somehow he looked worse than he was this evening.
Seunggyo shook his head, "I'm okay hyung. Just a headache." "Are you sure, Gyo? You look bad." "Nah, I'm okay. Let's start the meeting." Seunggyo sat on the chair and fixed his posture.
Namjoon suddenly bowed at him, "Sorry to be rude but Your Highness, are you okay? You don't look good." He asked out of concern. He wants the meeting to run smoothly and he wants the king to make a wise decision. He doesn't want any illness to cause misunderstanding while making decisions. "Should we postpone the meeting" he added.
Seunggyo shook his head. "We should continue with the meeting. And welcome to Odemore, princes of Hwayangyeonhwa." He nodded at 7 men in the room. "It's a pleasure meeting you, the King of Odemore." Namjoon spoke. "It's better if we introduce ourselves first."
Seunggyo nodded, "Proceed."
The meeting carried on for another 3 hours and it's almost 11 in the night. And yet they still don't have a decision. It's true that Seunggyo agreed to join forces with them but there are few terms that both Odemore and Hwayangyeonhwa didn't agree.
Seunggyo rubbed his temple. "Prince Namjoon, you can't have 40% of our natural resources. We'll be left with nothing." "Look King Seunggyo, I really want this to work. We want this to work. So let me give you my last bargain. Share with us 30% of your natural resources. Forget the lands. We have enough. Just 30% of your natural resources and we'll give you our men for field training, plus we'll be backing you up when you are attacked by an enemy. Deal?"
Seunggyo looked at his brother, "Coups hyung? Guys, what do you think?" he asked. "I think this is a good bargain for us." S.Coups then leaned against the chair. "Field training and help on the field?" he looked at Namjoon.
He nodded.
"But..." someone suddenly spoke. "Yes, Wonwoo?" Seunggyo looked at him. The 7 men from the other kingdom did the same too.
Wonwoo sighed, "I just think that 30% is quite high. I mean we're talking about continuously sharing with you the profit. It's true that you're giving us help during the attack or whatsoever but it's not like we continuously get attacked right? I just think that there's a little imbalance here."
"To be honest, I quite agree with Wonwoo hyung." Dino spoke.
Namjoon pressed his lips into thin lines. "Okay then..." he did a quick calculation. "25%? That's the lowest we can go."
"I say 20%" Woozi spoke. "No way, shortie." Yoongi slightly growled at him. "Yoongi, what did I tell you about growling at others??" Seokjin gave him a sharp glare which made the other younger one go dead silent at once.
Taehyung looked at Woozi, "Sorry but I think 20% is too low for us. We need at least 25%." "Taehyung is right. 25% and that's it." Hoseok agreed. Namjoon turned to look at Seunggyo. "Well, King Seunggyo? What do you think?" he asked. (A/N : Okay a disclaimer here. I didn't study about politic so I have no idea how this country-country relationship work. So I'm sorry about it. I'm just a computer science student T_T)
Seunggyo suddenly stood up, making S.Coups and the others frowned in puzzle. He then held his hand to Namjoon. "Welcome to Odemore. I'm looking forward to your cooperation, Prince Namjoon."
Namjoon smiled as he got up from his chair and took Seunggyo's hand. "Thank you. And we're looking forward to work with you in future, King Seunggyo."
"It is done." Mingyu sighed. "Yeah, it's done now. I'm guessing we'll see each other a lot in future, pillar guy." Jungkook smirked. Mingyu sighed again, "And I'm going to be stuck with this coconut head." He rubbed his temple.
"It's almost midnight. Please rest well. You need to prepare yourself for the ball. This calls for a celebration. Do tell our people about this. Hoshi, I'm expecting you to prepare all the terms discussed." Seunggyo looked at Hoshi. "On your command, my King." He slightly bowed his head.
Seunggyo then turned to Namjoon, "We can sign the agreement tomorrow." "Then tomorrow it is." Namjoon nodded.
S.Coups went back home to his family. By the time he reached home, the house was already dark, probably everyone already went to sleep. He quickly went into the house, locked the door and went to their shared bedroom. He could see his wife was sleeping on her side. He slowly went to the washroom to clean himself and change into something comfortable to sleep in.
By the time he was done, he saw his wife was already up. She was rubbing her eyes sleepily, "You're home..." her voice sounded raspy. S.Coups threw his towel elsewhere when he crawled onto the bed and gently stroked her cheek. "Did I wake you up, love? Sorry."
"It's *yawn... okay." She struggled to open her eyes but she was just too sleepy.
S.Coups chuckled, "Sleep baby." He pecked her lips before gently pushed her to lay back. He pulled the cover over her. "I love you, Haneul, my princess. I will stay by your side forever."
"Good because.... whatever happens in the future, I'm... not going to give up on us." Haneul said before she slowly closed her eyes, drifting to dreamland.
But little did they both know, none of them could keep the promise that was made that night.
