Chapter 22

Third person POV

It's almost 9 in the night and S.Coups was itchy to go back home to be with his wife and children. Ever since he accepted to take over Seunggyo's duty as the King, he's been really busy. Even before the ball, Seunggyo wasn't feeling well so his works got slowed down. Now everything just got piled up.

S.Coups finally sat on the chair.

Dino chuckled, "So how does it feel to be a king?" S.Coups shook his head, "I'm dead..." he fixed his posture, "I can't imagine Seunggyo has been doing this for more than 12 years. Poor baby brother."

"And I can't believe you said yes." Wonwoo said. "Yes, hyung. We were surprised when we heard the news. We rushed to the palace to confirm if everything is as we've been told." Vernon said. "And I can't believe I said yes too. But I can't let Seunggyo carry all the burden, not when he's feeling unwell. And we still have no idea why he's still not recovering." S.Coups sighed. "Don't worry, hyung. His Majesty will be okay in no time. He's a tough cookie." Mingyu said and everyone agreed with him.

"So why did you call us?" Seokmin asked. S.Coups turned to look at Minghao, "Before anything else, can you do me a favour?"

The younger boy nodded, "Sure, hyung." "Can you send some of your shadow people or creatures to my house? Someone needs to look after Haneul and the kids." S.Coups said and Minghao nodded. Shadow started to fly out from the room.

Mingyu turned to look at his brother in-law in concern, worried about his sister.

"Well, that's why I'm calling you guys for a meeting." S.Coups sighed. Everyone was looking at him in full anticipation.

And so, he told them how Haneul almost got attacked. He told them exactly what Haneul told him.

"So you're telling me there were more than five people there, stalking her?" Seungkwan asked. "We don't know if they stalk her or not, but yeah, there are more than five people." S.Coups told them.

"Hyung, you have Jaewoo now. She may have said it to you so she could handle it but I don't think she can, hyung." Jun said. "Right! What if they targeted your kids?? She would not have enough to look after all three of them when you're not around." Dino said.

"Exactly. I was trying to tell her that but she won't listen." S.Coups sighed. Minghao looked back at him. "Do you want me to leave some of my shadow people with them? Of course without having Haneul knowing about it." He gave his hyung a small smile. "That would be nice, Minghao." S.Coups smiled, "Though I know she could easily sense them." S.Coups added, which unexpectedly earned a slight chuckle from the boys.

"And another thing that I want to talk about is regarding everything that happened today. I know it is sudden but I really hope that you can help me run this kingdom while Seunggyo is having the rest he needs." S.Coups looked at them. "Don't worry, S.Coups. We will help you." Jeonghan smiled and S.Coups thanked them.

After the short meeting, S.Coups went back to Seunggyo's chamber to let him know that he's going home. When he reached his room, he saw Eun Hui as she was about to enter the King's room.

He quickened his pace. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

Eun Hui turned around to face him, "Sir Seungcheol." She slightly bowed her head. "I asked you a question." He repeated himself.

"He should be taking his medicine." Eun Hui simply said. S.Coups's eyes landed on the cup on her hand. "You put it in his drink?" He asked and she nodded. "That's the only way to make him drink it."

S.Coups narrowed his eyes at her. *I just don't trust her yet.* "He doesn't need the medicine for tonight. I want to have a talk with him for a moment." S.Coups said.

"But Sir Seungcheol-"

"He. Doesn't. Need. It." S.Coups repeated each word.

Eun Hui let out a sigh, "Guess I have to do it the hard way." She whispered to herself. "Did you say something??" S.Coups looked at her.

She looked up at him, "Aren't you supposed to go home now, Sir?" She asked him. S.Coups kept his eyes on her, "I said I wanted to-" "Go home. You want to go home right?" Eun Hui stared right into his eyes as her eyes slowly glowed. "Listen to me, now. You will let me enter his room. And you will go home." Eun Hui said.

S.Coups stared at her for a while. His body froze and his mind went blank. There's only a single voice in his voice that he could hear. And that voice belongs to Eun Hui.

"Do you hear me?" Eun Hui repeated her words. Her eyes glowed brighter than before.

"Yes, I will... go home." S.Coups sounded too much like he's under someone's control.

Eun Hui smiled wickedly, "Good, now run along."

"Yes, will do." S.Coups nodded obediently before he walked away from the King's chamber.

Eun Hui smirked, "Such an idiot! What an easy target. Doesn't matter if you're a pureblood or even a royal family member, no one can escape from my words." with that Eun Hui walked into Seunggyo's room.

The King was sleeping peacefully and Eun Hui just had to wake him up. "Your Highness..." Seunggyo groaned before he slowly opened his eyes, "Eun Hui? Come again tomorrow...I want to rest."

"Your Highness..." Eun Hui called him, forcing him to look into her eyes. "You will drink this. You will have to." Eun Hui said.

"No-" "Your Highness...." Eun Hui's eyes glowed in slight annoyance.

"Yes. I will." the King answered.

Eun Hui smiled, "Good." she handed the tea to the King and watched as he gulped it down. She snickered, "Till the last drop..." she smirked.

"Feeling good now?" Eun Hui asked. Seunggyo blinked his eyes a few times, "Wh-What? Eun Hui? What are you doing here?" Seunggyo then looked down at the empty cup in his hand. "What's this?" he asked.

Eun Hui gently took the cup away from him, "It's time for your medicine, your highness. You did well this time. You did not whine at all." she lied. "Really? Wow, I don't remember drinking that." Seunggyo's eyes were still stuck on the cup that was now in Eun Hui's hand.

"That was because you were so sleepy, Your Highness. But it's okay. You should take a rest now."

Seunggyo nodded before he pulled the cover and slowly drifted back to sleep.

Eun Hui walked out from the chamber. The hallway was quiet as everyone started to go to bed. She took out a small bottle from the pocket. There's a liquid in it. "I would love to kill you fast, Choi Seunggyo but where's the fun?" She smirked as she looked at the liquid in the bottle. "This poison will eventually kill you, but slowly. I want to watch you suffer."

She kept the bottle back into her pocket before she went back down and headed towards her chamber.
