What happened last Saturday caused me not to sleep. Imagine a guy confessed to you, it's really life-changing. Two weeks before my 18th birthday, Dad told me to start planning.
“Hella” Earn said.
After his confession, Earn became closer to me. He was sweeter, and stuff like that. I know to myself that I also liked him, but it’s not the right time for that.
“Uhmm, hello. What’s up?” I asked.
Maybe even though he confessed, I wasn’t uncomfortable. Maybe because before the confession, we were friends, right?
“May gagawin ka bukas?” he asked.
“Nothing naman. Bakit?” I said.
On Tuesday, preparations for my birthday started. Dad already talked to some event organizers to handle my party. All I had to do was choose the theme, foods, and stuff like that. Then, they and the organizers would handle everything cause they are organizers, right?
I chose a bohemian theme for my debut. Then, I’ll just wear a dress because I don’t want to wear a gown. It’s too much hassle. The party will be at a resort. I also said that I want a Tangled-style vibe.
“May color fun run ticket for six, kasi na binigay si Ate. Do you want to join me?” Earn asked.
Asusss, you just want to be with me, eh?
“Yeah, sure. Saan ba yan?” I asked.
“Perfect. By the way, kasama rin naman sila Alana. Hmm, in Bataan” he said.
Ayyy, it’s with our friends. Last last day, I talked to Yanni about the confession.
“Yanni?” I said.
“Tine, may problema ba?” she asked.
How am I going to tell her about it?
“Earn confessed to me” I admitted.
“Ah, hindi naman na ako nagulat. Halata naman na gusto ka non eh” Yanni said.
“Paano?” I asked.
“Noong nahimatay ka, grabe yung pag-aalala nung batang iyon. Simula noon, nalaman ko na may pagtingin siya sayo” Yanni said.
Okay, it seems like I’m the only one who didn’t know. Actually, even our friends said that.
“Yanni, paano? I mean, this is the first time that someone confessed to me” I said, my voice filled with uncertainty.
“Sumabay ka lang sa agos, Tine. Pakinggan mo lang sinasabi ng puso mo, at kung anong magiging desisyon mo, susuportahan kita” Yanni said, offering words of comfort and support.
“Thank you, Yanni” I said, feeling a sense of relief.
After that, I went up to my room to talk to my friends.
“Girls, I have something to ask” I said.
“Sure, ano yun?” Alana said.
“Kayo na ni Earn noh?” Alizah teased.
“Pinagsasabi mo, Alizah, HAHAHA” Alana said, trying to brush it off.
“Well, pansin ko lang, noong nawala ka sa party, wala rin si Earn, HAHAHA” Alizah said, her voice mischievous.
“Omoo, huli na ba kami sa balita, gurl?” Lona asked.
“Oo nga. What’s the tea? Spill it” Fajra said, eager to know the gossip.
“Paano mo malalaman na may gusto ka sa isang tao?” I asked, my voice hesitant.
“Well, sa akin kasi, kay Yuan, ano, mabilis yung tibok ng puso ko kapag nakikita ko siya” Lona said.
