A couple days later

I had just put the finishing touch on the roof. I smiled, it looked fantastic. Or so I thought.

Inside was simple, one room containing furnaces, a crafting table, and of course two beds. Mina insisted on pink for hers, and mine stayed plain white. We had close to enough food, it was good enough for us for now.

Mina sat inside by the window, her head resting in her hands. She looked bored.

At least she was safe.

I hadn't let her help with the roof, and she'd resigned to sulking.

We needed more coal for lights though, the house was not very bright. I was afraid we'd attract creepers, my next project was an anti creeper wall.

"Mina," I called, "I'm going mining, I'll be back soon."

She raised her head, "can I come?"

"No," I said, "it could be dangerous."

She turned her head away. Not even answering.

I walked to the nearest cave. I had a proper iron pickaxe now, and a sword. I'd left Mina with my shovel, I hoped that would make her slightly happier.

It was dark inside because we didn't have torches to spare. But I found what I was looking for, I swung my pickaxe into the wall, chipping away at the black ore. Softly I hummed to myself.

Once I had enough I started my way back. On the path I saw a pink flower. I carefully grabbed it, maybe it would cheer Mina up.

"Mina I'm back!" I called, "I brought you something."

There was no answer from the house.

"Mina!" I called. I shoved the door open and walked through. Mina was sitting at the table staring at me.

"Look Mina," I said holding out the flower.

She didn't move.

"You never let me do anything," she muttered lowly.

I sighed slightly.

"Next time I go somewhere in the forest I'll let you come," I said. "Okay?"

She didn't answer.

"Here," I brought  the flower to her. "Take it."

She stared at the flower.

"There won't be a next time," she muttered, "there won't ever be a next time again."

"What do you mean Mina," I said. When she didn't reply I added, "spit it out."

Finally her face registered emotion, "You think I'm not strong enough," there was a growl in her voice. "You think I'm weak."

"I don't," I said surprised, taking a step back.

"You do,"

"Whats wrong Mina?" I said softly.

She didn't seem to hear me, "I'll show you! I'll show you!"

Her face screwed up. The furnace in the corner started to move toward Mina, as did the crafting table.

What is happening!

"Stop it Mina!" I screamed.

"Always left behind," Mina muttered furiously, she closed her eyes. "Always last, never anything else but annoying. Nothing but little, No one cares, no one cares!" Parts of the floor were coming too.

"Mina please," I reached for her shoulder. Her eyes snapped open, but they weren't hers. They glowed a blood red.

She shoved me hard. I hit the floor on my hands and knees.

She smiled at me, "Who's weak now?!" She laughed, but it wasn't hers now, it was deep and vengeful.

"Mina, wake up please. This isn't you!" I begged.

"That's what they all said," she brought her fist down and the block at her side disappeared, "our fathers never loved us."

"I love you Mina, you know that!" I said.

For a split second she paused. "Stay away from me Evelyn," the voice was hers. But then she was gone again.

She began to walk toward the door. Even with everything that had happened I ran after her.

"Stop!" I said, "whoever you are let my sister go."

Mina turned toward me smiling.

"I know you Evelyn," the voice said, "too bad you'll never know me."

Mina stabbed a block to her left and it began to burn.  Then another one and another one. Till the house was completely on fire.

"Goodbye Evelyn."
