Chapter Twenty-two: Confessions of a liar

"What do you mean you don't care? He cheated on you." Claire stated as she whispered franctically, and Jason stared blankly at me.

"It's not that I don't care, it's just that . . . there was alot more going on than you guys know about." I replied, and she narrowed her eyes.

"Your keeping secrets from us?" Jason asked, and I realized how little I had spoken to them here lately.

Gosh, I'm such a self-centered bitch.

But, it's not like I can tell them, and they would understand.

Who am I kidding, why wouldn't they understand?

"Okay, I'm going to tell you guys something, and you have to promise not to tell anyone."

They nodded, and I sighed as I looked between the both of them. "We never actually were dating."

"What do you mean you never actuallly dated, we so the way you guys made out." Claire stated, and I shook my head.

"It was fake, and sure it was great, but it was never more than us just making out for a good show." I explained, and they stared at me with scrunched up face as I slowly realized how that sounds.

"Uh, that's not what I meant," I said quickly, and they tilted their heads at me as I continued. "I asked him to pretend we were together so that Austin would leave me alone, and you two would stop pestering me about it, we never were emotionally involved."

They stared at me in shock. "But, why did you fight Jenna when you caught them together?"

"Because, first they made me look stupid, and secondly I just really don't like Jenna." I explained shrugging my shoulders.

"But everything seemed so real, I thought you guys actually liked each other. I mean Axel cried for you, and you seemed genuinely angry about it." Claire stated, and Jason nodded in agreement.

"Well that part was real, I guess towards the end we kinda actually started liking each other." I explained as I glanced down towards my hands.

"But what about Ryder?"

"What about him?" I questioned in confusion.

"He likes you." Claire pointed out, and I looked up at her before looking around the cafeteria finding him flirting with some sophmore girl.

"No, he doesn't I was just competition for him. He didn't want Axel to have me, so he tried to get to me." I explained, and I realized I was a little hurt by the truth in my words.

"Oh, so does Tyler know any of this?" Claire asked, and I quickly shook my head.

"No, and don't tell him." I responded quickly, and she held up her hands in surrender.

I still hadn't found out what happened between the two of them . . . I would have to ask her about that tonight.

"So, are you and Axel seriously together now?" Jason questioned, and I nodded slowly.

"Yeah, we are." He nodded in understanding, and Claire glanced questioningly between the both of us.

"What?" I questioned, and she shrugged pursing her lips.

"Nothing."

I attempted to ignore the way she had looked at us, but I had a sneaking suspicion she wasn't going to let whatever her reason for looking between us that way go.
