POV: Gadget

Morning soon dawned through the large window and coated the room in its warm light. The room was bright yellow from the sun's rays, morning had come.

I woke up from the bright sun peeking in and yawned softly, stretching before remembering where I was.

I glanced at the clock; 8:56.

I still have some time before I need to go.

Infinite was still not awake yet, I decided to get ready while he's sleeping. I put on my glasses as the nurse came in, she waved at me and smiled before checking over Infinites  bandages and monitor.

"When do you think he'll be ready to leave?" I asked.

She sighed, "Depends, if his head injury is really bad we'll need to check it out to make sure nothing is damaged" she explained. "But if it's just a small bang to the head he'll be fine within a few more days"

I hummed, "And his chest?"

She unraveled his chest bandages and showed the injury, it was a large gash but wasn't deep. "He'll be okay, I just need to change these"

I nodded, "Alright then, also I have to be somewhere today at 10AM so could you maybe keep an extra eye on him to make sure he doesn't try to escape when I'm gone?" I asked.

"Of course" She nodded and wrapped new bandages around Infinite's two injuries.

"Thank you" I flashed a warm smile.

"Do you want breakfast?" She asked and turned to me.

"No thanks, I have some food here" I shook my head and chuckled. "He might need food though -" I gestured to Infinite. "-As stubborn as he is" I mumbled.

The nurse giggled before nodding and leaving the room. I looked at Infinite and sighed, it wasn't long before he woke up though, I assume from all the talking and getting his bandages changed.

He cracked his eyes open and yawned, displaying his very sharp teeth, I gulped at seeing the sharp set of nashers.

"G'morning" I flashed a gentle smile.

"Morning..." I heard Infinite grumble before sitting up slowly.

The nurse came in with some toast and water, "Here, eat up" she passed them to him. Infinite growled lowly but accepted the food and water. "You'll need to get your strength up" she added before leaving and closing the door.

I glanced at Infinite eating before giving him some space and eating the rest of my food bar at the window.

It was now 9:30, I prepared to leave Infinite for the day. I was dreading telling him but I think he'd be at peace without me here all the time.

"I have to leave now" I spoke up. Infinite had finished eating by now, he looked at me curiously. "What for?" He asked.

"I have to help Tails get rid of the debris in Green Hill" I explained while walking to the door.

"I see" Infinite nodded before resting on the plush pillow on the bed.

"I'll be back later" I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me. I exhaled softly and walked out of the hospital, the fresh morning air woke me up and refreshed me for today's work.

POV: Infinite

The room fell silent after the wolf left. It was comforting in a way, it allowed me to gather my thoughts.

However I tried to resist the itch to rip the wires off and escape, because being in this quiet room was beneficial to my thoughts, I don't think I'd cope being in the crowded outside world just yet.

But the temptation of escaping sounds too good to resist.

My hand trailed to my wrist.

But...

I pulled my hand away.

Is it worth it?

I frowned and rubbed my temples, a migraine forming from all the excessive thinking I've been doing.

I'll be killed the moment I step outside.

Even so, death sounds somewhat peaceful.

I can escape my problems.

I didn't realise I was scratching my wrists until I felt the sting of pain. I didn't touch the wires but still clawed at my own skin. I bit my lip,

Is it worth it?

I scowled to myself and glanced down at my slightly bloodied wrists.

They'll see these markings...

I need to wash the blood off at least.

Thankfully, this room I was being kept in had a private bathroom, the only downside is that I was attached to the damn heart monitor so I can't move that much.

I need to alert that nurse if I am to walk around again.

But how? I can't get out of bed without removing the wires.

I thought for a minute before slamming my fist on the red button beside my bed that the wolf pressed yesterday.

The nurse came rushing in to see what was wrong, I looked at her before she asked anything, "Bathroom." I spoke sharply.

She nodded in understanding before waking out of the room to grab a mini heart monitor that you could bring around with you. She came back inside and disconnected me from the main one, she then attached me to the mini one that fit in my hand.

"This mini one allows you walk around with ease" She explained while turning on the mini monitor.

"Why do I need a heart monitor?" I asked, hiding the scratches on my wrists under my gloves.

"Because of your head injury, if you loose oxygen to your brain your heart rate increases to compensate for the loss because blood cells carry oxygen around the body, I get notified if the heart rate increases because that device is connected to my hospital computer so I can track your heart rate and make sure it's healthy" She explained thoroughly. "If it increases rapidly that's when I step in to see what's wrong"

I nodded in understanding and sat up, pushing my legs off the bed and to the floor.

"I'll leave you be" She smiled before leaving the room.

I clutched the monitor in my hand and slowly got off the bed, my legs felt wobbly after not standing for a while but I got used to walking again. I grabbed the handle to the bathroom and entered it, closing the door behind me.

The bathroom was spacious itself, with a shelf beside the sink, a toilet, and a shower.

I placed the monitor on the shelf and took off my gloves, looking at the scratch marks I made.

The marks were still bleeding a bit, but the stinging had stopped, I ran the water of the tap and scrubbed the cuts, getting rid of all the blood as it dripped down the drain.

I hissed as the cool water hit the cuts but relaxed after as the water numbed the pain.

Once the cuts were cleaned I turned the tap off and dried my wrists with the white towel that was on the shelf, I then slipped my gloves on to hide the cuts and grabbed the monitor, walking to my bed and laying down again.

I wonder what that wolf is doing...
