POV: Zero

Ughh...

This is boring...

I slouched on the couch and sighed, resting my head back against the pillows. I yawned and decided to take a nap while Gadget was gone, so I layed down and curled up on the couch.

I muted the TV to provide some silence, all that was heard in the apartment was the ticking of the clock.

I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

POV: Gadget

I dragged pieces of metal into a large pile that me and Tails worked on for the past hour. It was sweaty work, but had to be done.

The sun was beating down on my fur, Metropolis was in its heatwave at the minute.

I wiped sweat from my forehead as I collected another piece of scrap metal. This piece was sharp and I accidentally cut my hand on it, I yelped as I threw the piece into the pile of junk.

"You okay, buddy?" Tails asked.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine!" I responded and smiled. "Is that us done here then?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'll call you in a few days time for another mission" Tails gave a thumbs up. "Thanks for all the help! It's appreciated!"

I grinned, "It's no problem! See you later, Tails!"

I rushed back to the apartment to see what Zero was doing, I hope he's alright.

---

The apartment door opened with a 'click' and I stepped inside. I heard shuffling then I seen Zero sitting up on the couch.

"Hey" I greeted him and sat beside him.

"Hey" Zero mumbled and yawned, waking up from his nap. "I assume all went well then?" he commented.

"Yes, the city has been cleared up, I'll get my next mission in a few days" I explained, still not noticing the cut in my left hand, the cut tore through my glove and skin, leaving a red gash.

It was only until I felt a sting I hissed and realised the cut, this caught Zero's attention immediately. I gulped.

Zero raised a brow, "You're hurt." he looked at the gash.

"It's just a scratch" I passed it off and gently peeled my glove off.

Dammit...that was my good pair of gloves too.

I flinched when I felt Zero's hand taking mine, he narrowed his eyes at the gash. I watched him cautiously, chaos knows what he would do.

My fight or flight mode kicked in when I felt Zero's tongue lapping over my wound. I yanked my hand away, "Agh! What the?!"

"What?" Zero huffed.

"Why are you licking my wound?" I narrowed my eyes. "That's...weird"

"It may be classified as "weird" to you, but licking wounds is a natural remedy to heal them faster" Zero explained and shrugged. "It also stems the blood flow and cleans the wound, meaning it easier to wrap clean bandages around them"

He knows a bit too much about blood and cuts...

That's...concerning?

Or...helpful?

I dunno.

I sighed and gave him my injured hand, I did want to be healed faster so this was my only choice.

Zero took my hand in his and licked the wound again, his tongue felt weird against my skin - not to mention it does tickle a bit, but I didn't protest and let him do his thing.

It is...a unique experience, so to say.

Not one that I would opt for often, but I guess it works.

In its...weird way.

Zero pulled away after the wound was cleaned, I gave him a roll of bandages and he wrapped them around the cleaned wound. Once he finished he passed the roll to me and smirked.

"That wasn't so bad, was it?" he flashed a grin.

"Oh shush" I rolled my eyes but chuckled. "What did you do while I was gone?" I changed the topic.

"Sleep" Zero responded shortly. "Can't do anything else, there's nothing to do in here" he added.

"I might have something to curb your boredom..." I hummed and walked to the kitchen, pulling out a variety of drawers to search for the item. When I found it I grinned and closed all the drawers, I passed the item to Zero and sat beside him.

"This is my old phone, you can have it so you're not as bored in here" I explained and pulled out my own, newer phone.

Zero looked at the phone curiously, "How do you use it?" he asked.

Uh.

He doesn't know how to use a phone?

That's...odd.

"You never had a phone before?" I asked curiously. Zero shook his head, "No, I had no time for luxurious technology"

I nodded softly, "I see...phones are still new in this world" I explained. "It's basically a communication device, we can text if you're bored or you can play video games on it"

---

The process of showing Zero how to use a phone was slow, but eventually he understood it. I showed him how to turn it on, how to use the charger, the volume buttons, and how to text. Since my old phone had games on it I let him explore them on his own.

"So, how did you get around then?" I asked, putting my phone in my pocket.

"How did I communicate? That's...a private story" Zero huffed, turning off his phone.

"Pleaseeeee?" I pouted. "We've gotten so far with knowing eachother, I want to know who you were before Infinite"

He refused, "That's a story you aren't ready to know yet"

I begged, "Come onnnnnn"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Zerooooo"

"For the last time, no."

"Why not?"

"It's a dangerous story, one that I'm sure will change your views on a particular mobian in the Resistance."
