POV: Gadget

I managed to get the rest of my sleep for the night as Infinite didn't move from his bed after that incident. I woke up freshly in the morning and glanced over to make sure he wasn't in the bathroom again, to my relief, he was still sleeping.

I pondered to myself about last night.

How am I going to explain to the nurse about the bandages around his left arm?

I don't know if I should tell the nurse anything...

He clearly has some mental health problems, and talking to the nurse about said problems could cause serious friction between Infinite and myself - not that we already had friction between eachother.

I just can't believe he'd do such a thing...

Shuffling brought me back to reality, Infinite rose up from bed and yawned. His arm bandages haven't bled through yet, nor his chest or head wounds bled through the bandages. I guess that was a positive sign that he could be out of here soon.

I would have to bring Infinite to my apartment...

That's it, I'm baby proofing the entire apartment!

I just have to watch him and his claws, because I've already seen the damage they can do.

The nurse came in, making me glance at the time I woke up; 10:46.

I had a lie in?...

"Good morning, you two" She greeted us and went to check over Infinite like she does in the mornings. Infinite didn't like to be touched but didn't put up a fight, I could see the grogginess in his eyes from waking up.

A wave of nervousness came over me, what am I going to say if she questions the bandages around his arm?

"Well, your chest wound seems to have finally stopped bleeding" The nurse commented while taking off the chest bandages. Under the layer of bandages, remained a large scar, it was still super fresh but at least the skin regenerated, hopefully his fur will grow over the top of the skin eventually. "So, a bit of air at the scar won't hurt" she smiled.

"As for your head injury" she unwrapped the bandages around his forehead. "Have you been experiencing any memory loss? Like forgetting your name or where you are?"

Infinite grunted, "No, my head just aches some times"

"Then you'll be out of here tomorrow" she replied. "He will take care of you" she gestured to me on the chair. I was watching the whole time curiously, but as soon as she said that I'll be looking after him I received a sharp glare from Infinite.

"Fine." Infinite huffed.

The nurse was about to leave but noticed the bandages over Infinites arm, she raised a brow. "Where did this come from?"

Ah, shit.

I gulped and looked at Infinite, who didn't look at me but at the nurse.

"I fell and hurt myself. He helped me." Infinite gestured to me. "That's all."

The nurse hummed, "If that is all that happened, then very well" she nodded. "I'll be back soon to get you breakfast" she left with the dirty bandages and closed the door behind her.

I exhaled in relief, Infinite sighed too.

"So, you're taking care of me even when I'm discharged?" Infinite asked, there was a faint growl behind the question.

I nodded, "Even when you're discharged, I don't want you getting yourself killed" I admitted. "I promised to help you, and I will continue to help you even when you're discharged"

Infinite became silent after my explanation, he glanced down at the fresh scar over his chest.

This sparked a question in my head, "Hey, uh...what happened after the whole fight between me and Sonic? You just... disappeared"

He frowned, "I got transported with the ruby as it vanished, the ruby left me in Eggmans fortress, with a large gash in my chest from where it was, that's also how I got my head injury" he explained. "I was thrown into the room, hitting my head against a wall before I became unconscious"

My ears folded to my head, "All this time...and we didn't even check the fortress..." I mumbled.

"You could've left me there" Infinite grunted. "Left me to die, it would be a nicer fate than going through the slow process of recovery."

"I couldn't, it's not in my nature to let others suffer when I know I can make a difference, even if it's small" I looked at him, smiling softly. "I managed to save you, even if it took four months..."

"Four months?" Infinite questioned.

I bit my lip, "Yeaahhh..."

"Why am I still alive..." I heard him mumble. "I should be dead, but I'm not."

"You still have your whole life ahead of you, Infinite" I approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "And the Resistance doesn't know about you, I kept it a secret"

"Don't touch me." Infinite growled. I sighed and removed my hand.

"You better keep it a secret then." He continued.

"I'll try to, but I trust that you won't try to harm yourself when I'm out" I narrowed my eyes. "I don't want to walk into my apartment seeing you passed out, or worse, dead on my floor"

He grunted and crossed his arms, "Depends."

"No, I want to help you" I insisted. "Cutting yourself isn't going to help you"

"It's effective." Infinite narrowed his eyes. "Like I said before, you have no right invading my personal business"

"And like I said before, I'm going to help you" I shot a glare at him. "Whether you like it or not, no one deserves to live in pain mentally and physically"

"You're so persistent, wolf." He sighed.

"And you're so stubborn" I chuckled softly.
