The buzz of the television mixed with the annoying hum of your damn weeaboo music playing on your laptop. Frankly, as annoyed as you were, you probably weren't going to get up and change it. What time was it? Eight in the morning? Noon? Ten at night? You couldn't tell. Time was irrelevant when you were isolated with nothing to do. The smoke from your cigarette floated up, reminding you of a cloud floating in the sky. You hadn't cloud watched in ages, hell, you had hardly even ventured out of your apartment in nearly four years now. It was embarrassing, yes, but no one even knew of your condition. Well, no one minus your parents. They were always on your ass about finding a job and getting a life. Thing was, this was easier said than done. Social anxiety had engulfed you, changing you into the trash of society you were now.

It didn't always used to be like this. You used to go out with friends, have a normal life, all the usual things a teenager would do. After leaving behind the cushy life of high school though, you started to.... change. The world seemed darker, like everyone was out to get you. Of course, you'd brush off these things as silly back then. However, your first day of college changed that all. People, hundreds of them, staring you down with judgmental and analytical eyes. After this whole episode in your mind, all you could do is run back to your apartment to cry. To this day, you still hardly ever came out. You left once a week to go down to the convenient store to buy food and cigarettes followed by a walk to an old park so you could stare up into the night sky. But why would they do that? Who would be that terrible to just a young college freshman? The answer came to you one day, as you did absolutely nothing but watch anime for hours on end.

Conspiracy.

Yes, that's what this all is.

There was an evil organization that set this all up against you!

Yeah.

That's the only explanation.

Your friend Hanji was the one that started filling your head with all that nonsense back then. Her radical ideas were often long and annoying to listen to you. She'd ramble on about anything you could think of; aliens, ghosts, government operations, natural disasters. In those days, you'd simply roll your eyes at her and laugh at her absurdity. However, there was one conversation that struck a chord with you. It wasn't very significant at the time, but it was one of the things that contributed to you transformation into your current state.

"Hanji, that's ridiculous. Everyone knows there's no such thing as conspiracies."

"I still believe in them (first)!"

"You do know that ninety-nine percent of them aren't even real or plausible right?"

"What if I told you, I only believe in the one percent that are true?"
