Mike watched as the moving van that held all of the Byers' belongings slowly began to pull out of the old Byer residences dirt driveway and make its way out of Hawkins. He began to think about all the things he wanted to say to both Will and Eleven before they left, but he never got the chance. He knew it would be a long time before he'd get the chance to see them both again. Mike had only ever cried twice before. Once when he thought El was gone forever, and once when he found out Hopper had been hiding her from him. That day, however, he spent the rest of his night in his basement, crying over his two friends.

Once Mike and his older sister Nancy returned home for the night, Mike went immediately to the basement where he and his friends would spend the most time together. He sat down on the couch and pulled out a massive binder filled with drawings and doodles all made by Will. He flipped through all the drawings and continued to cry until he finally fell asleep.

Mike woke up to the sound of his TV blaring a Coca-Cola commercial. He turned to his side to look at the clock that read "12:56". Mike not only slept through the night, but he also slept through most of his day as well. He sat up straight and began to put away all the drawings and returned the binder back to where he got it. He stood up, brushed himself off, and began walking up the basement stairs. Once back upstairs with his family, Mike was greeted by his mom, Karen and his dad, Ted, who were both wearing sympathetic smiles. Mike knew his parents wanted to talk about how he was feeling, but he was never the type of person to be open about his emotions. However, Mike reluctantly walked over to his parents and began the conversation he was regretting before it had even started.

Mike's POV:

I really dont feel like having this conversation with my parents right now. I'd rather curl up in a ball and die.

"Good morning Sweetheart!" Mom said enthusiastically.

"Morning"

"Well time for me to head out to work, I'll talk to you later son." Ted said.

Jeez, seems like Dad mustnt want this conversation to happen either. At least thats oe thing we both agree on.

"Michael sweetie, I want you to talk to me" Mom said

"I'm fine mom really, Me and El arent even together and Will said he'd write to me as much as he can. Plus I still have Dustin, Lucas, Max and Steve to hang out with." I replied

"Okay, But im always here if you want to talk" Mom said

I walked away before the talk could get any longer. I ran up the stairs to my room, slammed the door and locked it so no one would bother me for the rest of the day. Today was the last day of summer vacation and this really isn't how i wanted to spend my final moments of summer.

Once Mike was up in his room, he heard the phone ring downstairs. Mike was interested in the phone call so he decieded to open his door and go halfway down the stairs, just so he could hear who it was. Maybe it was Will calling for Mike. Maybe it was just another telemarketer asking for money. Maybe it was El calling to get Mike back. Regardless about who it was, Mike was interested in who owas on the phone.

"Hello?" Karen said.

"Hi Mrs. Wheeler, Its Jonathan Byers. Is Nancy there?"

"Of course" Mike thought to himself as he walked back up the stairs to tell Nancy Jonathan was on the phone. Mike was saddened because he still hadnt heard from Will OR El since they left. All Mike wanted was for that moving van to stop and everything would go back to normal, but that wasnt the case. He made the choice to shower and go to bed early since tomorrow was his first day of sophomore year and he realy wanted to try to not be upset. Mike skipped dinner, showered, and went to bed.
