II . The First Day

Today was Mike's first day of sophomore year. It was also the first school year he'd be starting without Will. Mike was nervous. He hadn't slept at all the previous night because he was so nervous. Instead of dressing nice for his first day, Mike decieded to wear a simple, white, short-sleeved button down shirt and a pair of baggy grey shorts. He paired that with white ankle high socks and a new pair of adidas sneakers his mom bought him the week before. After he was all dressed and set to go, he picked up his bag and made his way to the dining room and sat down with his family for breakfast. Mike chose a seat next to Nancy and ate his pancakes that his mom made. He didn't say anything to anyone while he sat and ate. Once he finished his meal, his said goodbye to his family and went out to his garage. He got on his bike and began to make his way to school.

Mike arrived at school with his two friends, Dustin and Lucas. The three boys all had the same first period, but no other classes together. They made their way into the building and walked to their lockers.

"Hey Mike how have you been without Eleven?" Dustin asked.

"Oh uh, I've been fine. I haven't really been thinking about her that much i guess." Mike answered

"Then why haven't you said a word the whole way here? Obviously somethings bothering you" Lucas said.

"I don't know I just dont have much to say." Mike said, ending the conversation with the three.

Mike didnt want to admit it, but something was bothering him.

Will.

Mike missed his bestfriend more than anything. He just wasn't feeling too excited about starting a new school year without Will by his side.

Lucas, Dustin and Mike all walked to first period and met up with Max, Lucas's girlfriend. They all chose a group of 4 desks toward the back of the class. As if Mikes day couldn't get worse, Troy Walsh walked into the class and sat right next to Mike. Mike was immediately flustered as Troy put both his feet onto Mike's desk, kicking his belongings into his lap. Troy laughed as Mike began to reposition his stack of books onto the area underneath his desk. Mike then pushed Troy's feet off his desk and shot him a dirty look.

"C'mon Mikey it was just a joke." Troy whispered to Mike.

Mike looked up to Troy, confused as to why he would ever "joke" around with him since Troy has bullied Mike and all his friends since they were kids. Just as Mike was about to say something back, the school bell rang and their teacher began to speak.

After his morning classes, Mike made his way to his locker to put his books away. Once he got his locker door open, it was abruptly slammed back shut by Troy.

"Hey Wheeler, miss you're fairy friend Will?" He said with a grin.

"Just leave me alone Troy." Mike replied.

"Hey, lighten up, im only messing with you-" Troy said back.

Troy winked and walked away from Mike's locker. Confused, Mike looked down the hallway searching for a friend to talk to and share his confusion with, but saw no one. He reopened his locker, put his things away, and made his way to the cafeteria. When he made it to the cafeteria, he scouted out his table with his friends and chose the open seat next to Max. Mike sat and ate his food in silence, confused and tired.

Mike finished his day at school, put his books away at his locker, and rode his bike home for the night. When he arrived at home, he was greeted by his mom and his little sister, Holly, preparing dinner. Mike ran up to his room, threw his bag down and pulled out his homework. He quickly completed his assignments and went downstairs to eat dinner with his family. After dinner, he spent most of his night thinking about what Will would say when Mike told him about Troy. Will. Oh how Mike Wheeler missed Will.

Mike sat down at the table to a meal prepared by his mom. Nancy and his father was at work and Holly had already eaten and gone to bed, so it was just Mike and his mom eating dinner together. Mike new that he was going to have to talk to his mom about his day at school, when he knew he didnt want to.

Mikes POV

"So Michael, How was your first day?"

 Just the words I wanted to hear!

"It was fine, uneventful."

"Was it weird without Will?"

Oh and it just keeps getting better. 

"Not really"

Yes, That was me lying in order to end the conversation. I really dont want to talk to my mom right now about anything. I'm confused about Troy and I miss Will more than anything. I cant even tink about anything without Will coming to mind. I just wish he was here stil to hang out. Thanksgiving is still two whole weeks away and I dont know how im going to last that much longer without seeing him. He is my bestfriend. I mean like obviously Lucas, Dustin, Max and El are all my bestfriends too but Will is my number one.

Mike made the choice to go to bed REALLY early today because he had a plan for the morning. He even picked out is outfit before he went to bed in order to save time. What he had planned must really mean a lot to him.

This chapter was really long sorry, felt like it dragged.
